I was astounded to learn that, although Nervous Norv determines the plays, he doesn't call them in to Phillip Rivers. Instead, he passes the signals to Charlie Whitehurst who calls them into Rivers. Is this make work for Charlie who isn't capable of anything else or just another indicator of Nervous Norv's inept coaching? When he was the offensive coordinator, did he pass the signals directly to the quarterback or did he also have some flunky to do the actual communicating? Norv is a perfect example of the "Peter Principle", a person being promoted until he reaches his level of incompetence. I fear that Jon Gruden will be too expensive for the Chargers and that the Chargers will opt for another coach like Andy Reid who has been fired from his prevous team and never won a Super Bowl. Perhaps we are entering another decade of merry-go-round coaching selections on the part of the Charger's management.
