Hmmm, i see. Well robdog, wouldnt it of been easier to leave it as it was and let those who migrated here from where ever(Boltsplanet..whatever that was) to adapt? I can get used to it but seems this format isnt as good, or as nice looking as it was before. Why make us change when it is the others that are coming from someplace else?

And im not getting an email notification when somebody replies to a thread i subscribe to.

It's a change but I'll get used to it. Thanks robdog for allowing us this format to offer suggestions, gripe, etc.

There is no "Leave it as it was before" we had plans to overhaul the site with new software, thus driving a new format for months. Thumper and I discussed it last November.

Robdog simply put it into action.

No wonder the Mood system was removed. My mood is not 100% to say the least.

Mine either but if the new admin is coming from the other place then i guess he can do what he is used to but the other format was better and there are many more here who were used to it than what they brought..which isnt as good but whatever.

The changes were for the better. We are now under one domain bolttalk.com instead of 2. We have upgraded to the latest version of vBulletin which provides more features, plus the server we are now on will allow us to handle the massive traffic once the season begins. The community and content of BoltTalk is the same, the site just looks a bit different. If you have any suggestions for the site, please do share it with us and we'll do our best to continue to make this the best Chargers fan site.

    Ray,
I asked questions and none of them were answered.

I see this board going "corporate" just GTP did.

We lost the things that made this board so good!
Where's the color? vbookie? rep? etc?

Will we be getting boltcash back and vbookie? If nobody really used vbookie i can understand but i dont know how much it got used.
As for two domians, i had no idea about Boltplanet so it means really nothing to me but if it helps the site grow, then great. Also now our profiles are plain and there was a lot of stuff to do before. I guess im just not seeing that yet.

Im also not getting email notifications when somebody replies to a threrad i subscribe to but i think that is a vBulletin flub because i never get them from UT anymore and havent from the NFLforums for about 4 years now.

theNFLforums haven't existed for about 2 years now.

Unless you meant the non-plural version?

It's not going "corporate" it's just going through regular vBulletin related updates.

I post at a lot of different sports forums that use vBulletin and it's always the same routine.

    - vBulletin comes out with an updated version

    - Forum admin decide to input update

    - users complain en masse as what they've grown used to is suddenly different

    - features that were available in the old format are unavailable at the moment due to being optional features that have to be reinputed or they're hacks incompatible with the new format....users complain some more

    - Time goes by, old features are brought back (sometimes with minor changes and new formats of their own) and users adjust to the new format: Everybody's happy again

    - vBulletin comes out with an updated version

    And the cycle continues.

Well, yes, but this instance wasn't about spelling.

TheNFLforum and theNFLforums are/were two completely different forums.

The former is still up and running (although it may as well be theCHARGERSforum) while the latter has been defunct for two years now with most of the former members now posting at StadiumRejects.net

I meant the nflforum. The NFL forum(s) was a spinoff from the NFLforum by some guys that got banned from there. And BTW LV, the rep is the star looking thing on the bottom left of posts. Opposite from where "reply" to a thread is. Be sure to give me some ;)

Well said Leo. This is the evolution of BT. The core principles are exactly the same and we are in no way going corporate. BoltTalk will always be the house the fans built. So give the new look a chance especially since it's still a work in progress. Also, all the features we have grown accustomed too will be back as well as some new ones.

The forum members and not the forum layout makes the forum.

edit: I edited my post to change a word and the  arbitrarily turned into a Cowboys icon... :icon_huh:

Ok, this is weird. It seems if I edit a word in the above post the smilies arbitrarily change to team icons.

 changes to a cowboys icon and I even tested another edit (but changed it back after) and the :icon_huh: turned into a Jaguars icon.

      :007forum_cowboys: :007forum_jaguars: :007forum_eagles: :007forum_patriots: :falcons:

      Just testing

edit: Before the edit that was the yes smiley, the "icon_huh" smiley, both ABQ smilies, and the no smiley. (edit test)

      :007forum_cowboys: :007forum_jaguars: :007forum_patriots: :007forum_eagles: :falcons:

edit 2: And then they changed again.

edit 3: the smilies change every time I edit.

edit 4: they seem locked in now.

The mood module is scheduled to come back. Just had a number of higher priority tasks to take care of first.

Board is not going corporate by any means. I have incorporated new colors as people have suggested them. For instance, users wanted user names bigger, done. Users wanted more distinction between posts, done. Colors get added as we get time to customize more and get suggestions from users. Rep has been returned for about a week now. vBookie is going to get re-implemented, but that has been on hold for a just a bit until the cash/commerce system gets completed.

And please re-iterate the questions that I have not answered. If I have missed any of your questions, I am sorry for that. Things get a little crazy after a major upgrade and things can be missed.

Smilies are still changing during edits.

      edit 1: :dancebanana:

edit 2: The above smiley was a :icon_shrug: smiley pre-edit
