Excellent question. A number of members picked up on the fact that background image was from the loss to the Patriots in the playoffs. So for the new layout I took it off, and want some suggestions for a new background image. I am on the lookout for some ideas, but I know some of BoltTalk's members might have a good idea. So post them up if you got em'!
Robdog, how about simply extending the blue header background on down the page while you are deciding? This is flat out gloomy - or was that the intent?
I must say, & please don't take this personally as I appreciate all of your hard work .... I hate this new layout.
No problem. Lets try to work through it. Is there anything in particular that is the "most" painful to you? Lets start with the biggest things and see if we can find a middle ground.
The layout just doesn't seem nearly as appealing nor does it flow as well for me. Maybe it will just take some adjusting on my part. I think a couple of the initial issues are that I feel my attention is somewhat consumed by the ad banners & the BT logo doesn't feel particularly integrated with the rest of the page.
Excellent feedback. I am still playing around with the header and make it a little more appealing. But I also wanted to point out that you can select the old layout still. Under "Important Site Links" you can click the "Bolt Talk Primary Layout" and it will pop open the style picker. I am leaving the old layouts around for people who feel a little more comfortable with the old style.
I noticed that the "Mod" tags are gone - not something I'd throw a hissy over, but thought I'd mention it.

Did a little more with the layout if you couldn't already tell. I will be working on a better overall background to finish off this new layout. Let me know your thoughts.
Ok so I just guessed and rolled with liquid layout, as I couldnt find a layout listed as old layout. BUT I got the stadium pic back, BUT I also got the chat box of the site now almost full screen so I can only see a sliver on the sides of the pic. Might have to increase my font size if I can keep it like this. ;] Idea for the sides if they gonna stay solid colors... Is there a way to make a 2 color fade that stretches as you scroll down the page going from say Navy blue to Powder? In my mind it looks awesome, but sounds like a memory eating process to create.
Oh and on the new layout, the little red alerts bubble that pops open goes off screen on my comp. Not at the top of monitor but at the top of the window banner. Prob a problem on my side that either ill live with or ill jus stick with the old layout... And far as the Ads, I dont mind them they are a given but is there a way to not have one right at the TOP of the forum page?? Maybe like after first 5-10 posts put in a splitter ad?? Or is it already like that when not viewing as a registered member? Eh maybe jus drop the add from the top to the bottom of page.
Ummm... I don't understand?? I have noticed lately that the ads were in the posts under the first post. I haven't changed anything on the forum so I don't know what you mean by style?
