This works in profile messages also. You may notice a new button when you make a post that looks like this: That button creates tags like these: [ YOUTUBE ] [ /YOUTUBE ] When you go to a you tube video you'll notice a URL like this http: // youtube . com/watch?v=sAvYNJVOJeA Notice the end part? That's the movie code. Take the code and put it between the you tube tags like this. [ YOU TUBE ] sAvYNJVOJeA [ /YOU TUBE ] (take out all the spaces) This is what will show up in your post or profile message.
OK I have finally disabled the abiltiy to add videos by entering the "Embed:" code from sites like youtube.com. This was something that was necessary to do, but I was able to set up another way to post video. You can still use the [ YOUTUBE ] code as described in the 1st post of this thread. That is the only way to add video to profile messages. In posts though, you can just enter the URL for the video you want to post and it will automatically show up as an embedded video for some video types. It works for YouTube and GoogleVideo as well as some others. If you are trying to post video from a site that is not supported, it will show up as a link to the page with the video. Thanks.
Does this save server space? Because I absolutely hate having to highlight a portion of the URL to embed youtube. It's so much easier to just cut and paste the html code, or at least the entire URL. edit: Nevermind, I see I can also just post the URL, which is nice.
The method of inserting video in threads has been removed due to a vunerability used by Eldwin (unintentionally I hope) to distort the layout of the forum. It is explained in this post: http://www.bolttalk.net/forums/showpost.php?p=427144&postcount=131
