Since I've been campaigning this team needs to make a trade, does anybody believe we will or should?

Now, this year more than others, there has already been some trades that have taken place, and also some big names floating out there. Hakeem Nicks, Tony Gonzalez, etc.

So here discuss any trade talk related to the Chargers or all other 31 NFL teams.

With key guys out, relying on English, Keiser and Williams just isn't doing the job at OLB.

I think the Chargers should pull off a deal for Brian Orakpo. Redskins still alive in the division, but things are not looking good for them this year. His trade value isn't much after a 2nd pectoral injury last year and also becoming a free agent in 2014. But, given his age and potential, he is still worth a 2nd-3rd round pick. Which, I'm willing to give up now. He is a rental, and if he does well I say hand him a similar contract to Clay Matthews, maybe not the exact one, but something close to it.

Trades like these rarely happen, but fun to talk about. Just pondering, don't mind me.

There is talk about teams acquiring about Jason Babin, I would welcome the pass rush but not the 33 year old baggage and locker room cancer that came with it.

Especially a guy who thrives in 4-3.

Orakpo is intriguing, but I'd prefer his pal on the other side Kerrigan. Jenkins has flashed at corner but not sure he is all that.

Kerrigan is a beast. Not saying that I'm unsatisfied with Liuget's play, but it does make me wonder what our defense would look like if the Redskins didn't take Kerrigan 2 picks before us.

I say the same about Cam Jordan, who was the guy I wanted after JJ Watt

Liuget had a monster year in '12 and he hasn't been a bust by any means, but when your completely devoid of pass rushers as we are it's hard not to look back and say..."maybe Matilack was right".;)

3-4 DEs (Watt being the only exception) are just like guards, and a little like RBs in that they're needed, but you don't need great ones to win. Im a huge Liuget fan, but the value just isn't there in the 1st round.

So Mathews taught you a valuable lesson regarding the draft?

Agree, especially when you look at Reyes who is just as talented and productive

Well, Kerrigan wouldn't be shopped because his contract isn't up this year. Also, hasn't had the same type of season ending injury twice already.

There probably looking to keep Kerrigan and give Brandon Jenkins a full time role now that he is healthy. Which would make Orakpo expendable.

Trade? I'm guessing MM and TT feel this team is set for the year, for better or for worse.

Aye, I will take that one on the chin for a long time I'm sure. I thought the kid had something special, and he showed flashes of it in 2011...but injuries complelty aside he just doesn't break big runs like he did in college. He's turned into a Cedric Benson like grinder. That said I also was all aboard the MJD and LeSean McCoy bandwagon when they came out...for what it's worth.

So I wouldn't say never take a RB in the 1st, some guys are just special and can turn dead plays into 10 yard gains.

I'm not up for any trades at this time. I like what TT and MM did in the draft and FA this off-season, so i'd rather not take away any of those picks they can use to make us better. If we were to lose 3 or 4 of the next 5, I wouldn't be too opposed to jettison a few of the older guys for mid round picks. With us still in the hunt, I say we keep the status quo and try to get a few more of our own guys healthy.

I agree, but I just don't see how we can take the next step without adding a pass rusher....any pass rusher at all.

Even if Jarrett Johnson comes back it's not enough. English cannot rush the passer, he gets hurries but 0 sacks. We need a guy that offenses have to plan for. Which at the moment isn't anybody besides Liuget. And if they can double him, knowing Reyes, Thomas, JJ, and English can't win their 1 on 1's then there goes our best pocket penetrator.

English's worthlessness is staggering. He's one of those guys like Richard Goodman who won't find another job once he leaves.

To be fair, Just because the position he plays, he'll be signed somewhere. Probably somewhere along the lines of Antwan Barnes 3 year 4 million type contract

He's not Antwan Barnes though, he'll take 1 year minimum deals, and probably struggle to make the team.

Agreed that Barnes is a better pass rusher and may or may not get more pressure on the QB, and outside of 2011 where most of those sacks came from the Ravens and another team, Barnes has been a 2-4 sack a year player which is exactly what English is.

But I agree English will probably be a one year rental every season for the rest of his career

Yah, I guess i'm okay with us not making that next step this year, and using the draft picks to help us make that jump next year. A monster pass rusher and a healthy Melvin could do wonders for this defense.

Not trade related but, Saints waive OLB Martez Wilson, Chargers should be picking the phone ASAP, instant upgrade over English, who I'd release to make room for but, he has to go through a long list of teams in waivers before he comes to us.

He was teammates with Johnny Patrick at New Orleans and Corey Liuget at Illinois. Too bad you can't pick where you want to go, because I'd love for these guys to reach out to him.

He didn't fit the scheme in New Orleans, there playing a lot of 4-2-5, I think he has the measurables and athleticism to play in the 3-4 if he can pick it up, and why not on a bye week? Perfect opportunity.

Yeah I noticed Tim Dobbins was released by Houston. I even pinged his agent (same agent as Weddle) and told him to call the Bolts!! (he's an upgrade over Bird). Like what I'm hearing about Martez Wilson and as far as I can see he is still out there no?

I don't forsee Telesco making any blockbuster trades, and will build through draft. But just curious, what one player would you guys trade for our 1st roundpick next year? Why?

PS: those all white throwbacks, so much sweeter than the current alt jersey.

Wouldn't do a 1, but might do a 5th rounder for Jared Allen to come in and be a pass rushing specialist. I know he's a 4-3 end but he is 6'5" 270. He could come in on passing downs and blow people up. I might go higher if he would sign a new deal with us. I could see him slimming down to 260 and being a badass OLB for us.

I would rather bring in one of these young high profile guys like Wilson or Montgomery (keeping him on strict probation) and hope they can have a Antwan Barnes like effect for our pass rush. Or even sign this Robinson kid we're trying out.

No sense on mortgaging our future right now, when a lot of our better players are hurt but will eventually come back this year or the next
