Benching him a while ago could have served him well, but that would not have happened with Norf in charge. The team is just dysfunctional and the rot started at the very top. Nice product Deaner
It's like a bad marriage...... what once mesh so well is now in tatters. Rivers just doesn't look like the same player any more. The only way he can be successful now, is if he has an All Pro line to keep him clean. If protection breaks down, he loses it. We need to draft beef in '13.
All of the break-downs in protection I saw came from the left side of the O-Line. It was no secret that Harris was going to get the start over there - so how much help did Norv build in for him out of our FB/RB/TE corps? I am being told by some folks that know this game better than I ever will that this one is all on PR and Norv cannot be blamed for this one. Yet I don't remember seeing Randy McMichael, called by some former players the best blocking TE in football, over there helping Harris - maybe I was just distracted or blinded. Instead I saw Rivers trying to roll right away from pressure or throwing off of is back foot again. But who the farg am I? Nobody, just the same pissed off old Chargers fan I was at the start of the fargin game. Have already deleted the game. Not gonna go back and try to deconstruct - hell I'm not qualified to do so..
I can't say how often McMichael helped out, but there was a TE or RB left to block on many of the plays. AJ's built on the cheap O-line just isn't good enough to get the job done. They can't open holes in the run game that would help Rivers by keeping defenses honest, and they can't hold up long enough for him to throw the deep balls that Norv's offense is designed to get.
Was at the game... wow same old same old find a way not to win... miss aasignment on punting, pick 6... RIVERS THROW THE BALL AWAY OUTOFBOUND!
He wouldn't get the undivided attention he gets now. One thing he doesn't like is sharing....... a selfish bastage through and through.
Sorry haven't read up on where you guys are at with your mindset on the team now, but if Bolts don't pull out a W in Denver next week (which obviously seems a likely scenario), what do you estimate the odds Norv will get the axe mid-season?
Spanos won't make a midseason change, because there's no point. If we fall behind the Broncos by three games (but four in reality since they would sweep the division series), our chances to get to the post season would essentially be over. Too many teams with better records vying for the wild card to give us any realistic chance. Norv would get released at the end of the year....... Spanos is always slow to pull the trigger.
OK ...............................what went down today then ??? OH....."Fillup" again I see. (I've decided to just call him Fillup these days, seems "filling up" the oppositions scoreline has become his most consistent attribute of late) Well, the good thing about the present is, its NO shock in the least anymore, infact its become rather Blahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...Zah to say the least ! (like about 3 years ago) Anyone like to hop on my ......"Fillup wants outta SD so badly, he's willing to throw games" bandwagon from a few weeks back while there's still plenty of seats available ? OK, but I dont want to hear about it come Feb. next year, when Fillup packs up the youngin's and kinfolk on the back of the Ol' HillBilly's jalopy and heads back home to dem open fields and peanut farms of good ol' Georgia, chewing on a dry blade of grass, you've all had your chance, "so don't come back now, ya hear" !!!
From what Ive read, sounds like it was Lynch who missed that assignment ........ he's to valuable a piece of merchandise to NOT have completely protected in those situations ........ Is it time for a Steve Crosby rebirth yet ???
Cant say I've heard a thing in recent times regarding an injury to Fillup, Conc ??? .................but for cryin' out loud Man............"still a GOOD QB" ..... could I be so bold to ask you on what you base that assumption ???? To say this all falls on "Meachem & Royal" is totally farfetched, I wouldn't say he could possibly have had time to "establish" a meaningful relationship with Alexander in the space of 3 weeks, but he seems to have had no trouble finding him today ??? Royal and Meachem have enough problems with their OWN games (or lack of), without shouldering all the blame for Fillup's fargups over the last 8 weeks, trust me. As for his footwork !!!! ....................what footwork ?....he's NEVER shown "good footwork", simply because he doesn't possess any. Did you really just say ...."Norf is a good QB Coach" ??? .............. C'mon Mannnnnnnnnnn, its OK to take the Homer Glasses OFF these days, the gig is up mate, Norf has been exposed finally by the Masses as the AntiChrist of Offensive Genius', you can drop the act, its OK. He's a terrible QB coach, anyone who credits him with making Rivers into the player he WAS is kidding themselves, Fillup was a more than redy for the NFL QB well before Norf bought his "talents" to town. Let me guess, your still listening to Troy Aikman praising his wrinkly old arse from 18 years ago, aren't you. Good luck with that ......"Give him some time" line of thought ................... more wishful thinking on your behalf mate, but it 'aint happening this time around, well not while he's still in a Charger's jersey at least
Mmmmm, bet I can guess which "play" this was ........ be honest ..................did you "Facepalm" when watching that ?
Looks like Acee stole your Headline Ringo ....... "Acee: Rivers is awesome until he's awful" Lowdown SOB !!!
Last Movie I seen with "fisting" Dave, didn't involve "One's head up a dark place" for memory................. let me double check though and I'll get back to you.
I have NO IDEA what your talking about ........ Is that the "look" Deev has when we are together in public I wonder ????????
Whoever it is ....... Mary Kate Joani Chachi Ralph Mouth or The Fonz. She's screamin inside ................ "I think I've shite my panties, HELP PLEASE !!!!"
I'd fancy his chances at RG better....................hell, he could probably hold down both RT and RG simultaneously if that TuTu picture is accurate.
He's underthrown plenty in the last 24 games or so, and got lucky because of great WR play on more than a few occasions ....... lets not play favorites here anymore.
