Where was that pic taken ?????

I'm guessing up Queensland way, they have just been hit with what has obviously become the "Buzz word" of the moment, a SUPERSTORM in the last few days.

Guess Hurricane/Cyclone just doesn't quite give the public enough reason to buy papers anymore ?

Just watched the ESPN doco on Hershel Walker .............................Man, its so easy to forget about the past sometimes, I was intrigued by this guy back in the 80's, well before there was the internet and the only news you ever heard was from magazines like "Sport", which weren't always easy to even find down here.

What a Phenom he was, absolutely awesome specimen of a humanbeing and still is to this day.

Along with Bo Jackson and Marcus DePree, perhaps the most intriguing Football players of their day.

Quite a coincidence that all 3 never truly fulfilled the expectations of many, due to differing circumstances, but My God, what they did show was unforgettable.

Love those shows that get indepth and behind the scenes, good watch for sure.

Thought it was ...... good timing for a storm up that way ............

"Schoolies Week" just about to start.

Hopefully the weather puts a dampener on that bullshit and keeps a few indoors, seriously doubt it though, kids these days seem to be able to find trouble regardless and Im sure that will be the case again no doubt.

What are the odds on Rivers throwing another inexplicable pick in tomorrow's game?

Oh Jack, there *was* an Internet in the 80's - but that was before the AOLers and Windows users could get on it.

I'd say that number is probably erring on the conservative side, wouldn't you ?

Haven't seen a good reason to think its NOT 100% to be honest.

Ayup - what there "wasn't" back then was a "world wide web" or "web browser". Communications were generally just text based. Once there was, it didn't take long for folks to want TCPIP and the other stuff necessary to connect to get the rest of the PC world of home users to want access. In the 80's everything was generally text based and images were shared in binary form then reconstructed on your local computer (very slow too). Programs had to be shared in compressed text/ASCII based "code", (we called them TarBalls), then locally compiled into machine code. The original web browsers (NCSA Mosaic) came along in the early 90s and were still text based, but it was "formatted" text (whoop dee doo) and every Okie and his dog started learning HTML (hypertext markup language). I had been making a good part of my living for a couple of years writing hypertext "help" files for Unix systems - so HTML "coding" came very, very easy - which was why DynCorp made me one of the earliest web masters on the net using a CERN 1.0 web server. Those were fun times... (before the rest of the world on on-line), but it was even more fun to watch and take part in the Internet "explosion".

    Lord I *AM* a fargin dinosaur. ;)

Man .......................thats fascinating stuff Dave, I wasnt aware that you were THAT into the whole Internet World.............I thought for a minute there, you'd crossed over to being BLEW !!!!

Most informative stuff, you certainly know your shite mate, I bet that was an exciting time all the same, I couldnt have been further away if I'd tried, tucked quietly away in little Ol' Glen Carbon, Illinois, firmly entrenched in the Tennis Club and living every night down at The Landing, listening to bands at Mississippi Nights............................hell, I'd never even seen a computer till I moved out in Sept. 2000, when the girls I lived with bought one.

    I would say 110%. ;)

That being said, each week, what I have come to expect with the Chargers this season turns out to be the opposite (wins or losses). I fully expect a loss, and the house of cards to collapse (as if it hasn't already).

From now on, I'm going with the "George Costanza" approach to the Bolts. "Do the opposite" (or expect the opposite in this case).

    Bolts - 31
    Donks - 28

And we'll all be left scratching our heads again.

The injury report alone doesn't give one any reason to be optimistic about this game.

Silver predicted the outcome of the election almost exactly...... I think he only missed on a couple of house seats.

That's John Boehner, leader of the orange people and Speaker of the House. He's also the only member of Congress he cries at the drop of a hat. ;)
