A small thing I can appreciate.... The last time a Chargers player appeared on the PFT Police Blotter, (formerly the Turd list), was: 5/6/2011: Chargers LB Antwan Applewhite is arrested for suspicion of DUI.
Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter On the day the Chargers are expected to name their new GM, Colts VP of football operations Tom Telesco is back in San Diego. Gee - ya think he might have a point? ~~~ UTKevinAcee @UTKevinAcee Still no definitive word, but I am told Tom Telesco is either at Chargers Park or nearby. Told this is happening soon.
UTKevinAcee @UTKevinAcee Tom Telesco is the new Chargers GM. Story coming from @utgehlken. Bill Johnston @ChargersPRguy The Chargers have planned a 1pm press conference at Chargers Park to announce Tom Telesco is their new GM.
UTKevinAcee @UTKevinAcee RT @AlbertBreer: Be careful dot-connecting on SD coach search. >So true. I am getting vibe that Arians not a lock just because Telesco hired While I would be tickled - both Breer and Acee are showing a bit of wisdom I didn't expect in that exchange...
GOOD one! ~~~ Just to clarify - getting Tobas, er... Talesco in a GM probably does improve the chances of getting Arians in here - that is far, far from a slam dunk. <sigh>
Ayup - but have to admit, its interesting to look at you YOUNG, (he is 40), he looks - just finished watching the stream of his introduction as GM and damn he handled it well. If I forced myself to listen to what he said rather than stare at his (relative) youth - that went about as well for a 1st time GM as it possibly could. Of course, what we NEED is results and it starts with who is head coach. THAT selection will determine how much this old fan gets behind the process (from a fan's point of view), or just kicks back to observe.
"Hey, the # 66 is vibrating like Hell, but it mostly just goes in circles..." (for the more casual fans [and the potentially dyslexic] 66 is Clary)
Jets G.M. search moves to Jimmy RayePosted by Mike Florio on January 9, 2013, 3:57 PM ESTWith the Chargers choosing not to elevate director of player personnel Jimmy Raye to the position of G.M., the Jets are now considering San Diego’s second choice for the top job for the New York team that plays second fiddle to the Giants.Per multiple reports, Raye is the latest name to be added to the G.M. search with the Jets.Though Raye could indeed end up being the answer, the current perception in league circles is that the Jets are having a hard time filling the job. As one league source put it fairly bluntly, the Jets are “screwed.”They initially were believed to be ready to hire 49ers director of player personnel Tom Gamble. But word on the street is that Gamble’s interview didn’t go well. And while that shouldn’t necessarily matter to a guy’s ability to find players, it’s the primary tool for screening candidates for these jobs. Also, the inability to interview well won’t go over well for a team that is blessed/cursed by so much media attention. The Jets wanted Falcons director of player personnel Dave Caldwell, who took the Jacksonville job. And before they could get themselves in position to get Colts director of player personnel Tom Telesco, he picked the Chargers. In the end, the winner could be coach Rex Ryan. If the Jets can’t find someone to whom owner Woody Johnson feels confident turning over the keys to the car, Johnson could decide to hire a G.M. who wouldn’t be Ryan’s boss but his right-hand man.Actually, that arrangement probably would work a lot better than having a G.M. who wants to hire his own coach and who is biding his time until a case can be made to fire Ryan.
Now why would anyone do that ???????? If he's The Man, I hope he can live up to the task and "see into the future" ......... Tommy Hubble is it then !!!!!
I knew I should have read forward a little .......... Damn it !!!!! OK Hubble, lets see what ya got Mister, good luck, you'll need it.
I can't believe it took that long for someone to connect the dots !!!!! Hold on ........... YES I can.
So what's the word on Raye ?????? Shirley he wouldn't be sticking around if overlooked for the GM job you wouldn't think ....... Nice kick-in-the-arse that one by the way ...... BLEW !!!! ....thought you said he was a "cert" for the GMs job, by the way ????? NostraFrostus you are NOT Sir ......
absolutely NOT !!!! That was probably AJs parting gift to his subordinates as he smirked off into the sunset.
