Proper tackling form is taught from Per-Wee through College (probably NFL as well)... Head up, looking at what you are tackling. Wrap your arms and drag them down. In American football there is no rules about not tackling above the waste. I dont think there has to be. Its when a player lowers the head and uses the crown of the helmet that there are injury issues. Often as many on the one making the hit.

Welkers cloaking shield is still working apparently.

Too bad the Balls shields are not working. I love hearing all the fans screaming "No! Oh! No!"

Your intial post, yes you did say that .............but correct me if this one below doesn't mention you saying there was "Helmet to Helmet" on Pitta's hit ?
Yeah, Thanks for playing alright, I get that you hate the Pats, but don't let that hate blind your ability to be objective or see things for what they truly are. ;)

It was. The initial contact was helmet to chest. The receivers helmet came forward and made contact with the defenders helmet. That has been incorrectly called all season long. What is it about this that is so difficult for you to grasp?

Well its NOT proper tackling form in todays game anymore, is it !!!!

Ive said it for years, take the helmet away and I bet you any money that guys wouldn't lead with the head, self preservation instinct kicks in ................in every other "contact sport in the world" outside of Ice Hockey and American Football, there are NO pads used that make players feel invincible, therefore they are all part of the problem to begin with, lose those and you'll get a fairer indication of "pure tackling ...................if Aussie Rules doesn't do it for you, go check out either form of Rugby if you still have doubts.

Yeah it is. It hasnt changed.

The only think the NFL has done is limited when you can make helmet to helmet contact with the receiver, and QB. They have not outlawed helmet contact, which is what you were calling for in your initial post, so I am not quite sure if you are arguing to argue or arguing that the NFL should adopt Aussie rules...

    Ya cheeky bugger!:)

Sorry , your WRONG, never during THAT PLAY did Mayo's helmet make contact with Pitta's helmet ...........never !!!!

All shoulder, all the way to the ground, head tucked under Pitta's arm and to the side, have watched it back myself already, go do the same if you like and see if you can admit your mistake.

I am a little surprised the Ravens out lasted the Pats. The Pats appeared to be hitting on all cylinders for most of the game... Nice hang in there by the Ravens.

If you say so (read, lets agree to disagree). What I saw is what I saw. The refs do not call it consistently and need to focus on correcting that.

I dont think you quite understand what Im saying .............

No, it hasn't changed and thats the problem, but it better if all these ex players lawsuits gain momentum and see the light of day in a courtroom, or the NFL will be out of business.

The rules need changing to suit today's "soccer mom's mentality" Conc, not saying I agree with it entirely myself, but those are the facts and what society is demanding, no different to the argument over there regarding Gun Law changes, different times, different laws needed, can't keep living like its the 18th century mate.

The NFL doesn't need to adopt any other sports rules, just adapt their own to ban "leading with the helmet" as long as it stays in the form that it is (being a hard shelled piece of equipment), being it on a Pass play or Running play or ANY plays for that matter, why should a WR and QB have protection but NOT a RB or even defensive player trying to tackle a RB who leads with his head down ??....makes absolutely no sense whatsoever if your main objective is player safety first and foremost, does it ???

It's for the safety of both players...... nobody "wins" when there's helmet to helmet contact.

Correct BLEW ...................all helmets are good for is making concussions worse its finally been determined after many studies, either change the makeup of the equipment or get rid of it altogether and play in cycling type padded ones if need be.

I hear Lance the Boil has a few sitting around that he wont be needing anytime soon. :D

Lets hope they still have something in the tank for the Big One and make it a memorable game, thats all I'm looking for.
