    NFLPA still concerned about Chargers’ doctor
    Posted by Michael David Smith on February 11, 2013, 7:21 PM EST
    The news that three independent physicians reviewed the work of Dr. David Chao and found him qualified to be the team doctor for the San Diego Chargers has not satisfied the NFL Players Association.
    NFLPA Executive Director DeMaurice Smith said in a statement to the Associated Pressthat concerns remain about whether Chao is an appropriate choice to provide treatment to players on the Chargers, based on a past history of losing malpractice lawsuits.
    “The fact is that despite having previous malpractice liability judgments against him,neither the Chargers nor the NFL initiated an inquiry or provided any oversight of the doctor the team selected to provide care for our players,” Smith said.
    According to the Associated Press, Dr. Chao has been accused of negligence and failure to maintain adequate medical records, that he was ordered to pay $5.2 million to a former patient (not a Chargers player) in a malpractice case last summer, and that he was publicly reprimanded by the Medical Board of California after he pleaded guilty to driving under the influence.
    Smith sees a pattern of conduct from Dr. Chao that point to a larger issue with the players, namely that they want more oversight on how team doctors are chosen.
    “The NFLPA will take every step to hold the NFL and its member clubs accountable to provide the care that they are mandated to provide,” Smith said. “Dr. Chao’s previous medical liability issues only increases our desire to engage in a thorough and comprehensive credentialing process to determine which physicians are providing care to our players and how they were selected by the teams.”
    For now, however, Dr. Chao remains the team doctor.

    Well alot of it has to do with the seasons Dave ........

    In the warmer summer weather, it is far more active, so wriggler is probably more politically correct, whereas in the winter, he tends to slow down and become harder to actually find some days, so wanker would be mo appropriate in those times I do believe.

    Have never been the biggest Smith fan .........until NOW that is.

    Has a head like a pit bull come to think of it, so lets hope he has that disposition to "sink the teeth in" and not let go on this issue also.

    Sic' that Quack Smitty.....

    Authorities: Fugitive ex-cop Dorner found dead in burned cabin

    So Mote It Be....

    ~~~
    LATEST: Dorner may be holed up in cabin
    My interpretation - we aren't done spending money on this one yet... :cautious:... I love it when the mediots start trying to beat each other to the "latest breaking news" - if they can't report it, they will make it up... then feed off of each other...
    Chargers aren’t considering a tarp to cover seats
    Posted by Josh Alper on February 12, 2013, 10:33 AM EST
    The decision by the Raiders to take 11,000 seats out of commission led one San Diego writer to wonder if the Chargers would consider the same thing to reduce their seating capacity and cut down on blackouts.
    Tom Krasovic of the San Diego Union-Tribune raised the question with the team because they have dealt with the same problems as the Raiders and also play their home games at an outmoded multipurpose stadium. Krasovic got a quick response from the team and the answer is that Qualcomm Stadium will remain tarp-free.
    “We just lowered the price of 10,000 season seats in an effort to help fill the stadium and enhance our homefield advantage,” Chargers spokesman Bill Johnston wrote in an email. “Combine the lower price with one of the most attractive and competitive home schedules in memory and we’re optimistic about our chances.”
    Four of the Chargers’ eight home games were blacked out on local television in 2012 because the team wasn’t able to sell enough non-premium seats to meet the league’s requirements. The Chargers will host the Giants, Cowboys, Colts, Texans and Bengals in addition to their AFC West rivals in 2013.
    * Funny how they neglected to mention that they also RAISED the price on a like number of seats. :rolleyes:
    The spin doctor is still alive & kickin' in the Hizzle.............................he and Chao must be in cahoots I'm starting to think.
    How Good/Bad Were the 2012 San Diego Chargers?
    By John Gennaro on Feb 12, 1:47p
    You have seen me reference Pro Football Focus a lot in the past few weeks. I've used the site, and it's grades, as a way to analyze players on the San Diego Chargers as well as potential free agent targets of Tom Telesco.
    One question I haven't answer is this: How good or bad did PFF think the 2012 Chargers were? The answer is not surprising, especially if you respect PFF's grading system.
    • The Chargers were 29th in terms of overall grade, making them better than just three other teams (Bears, Jaguars and Cardinals).
    • They were middle of the pack in terms of passing offense, despite being ranked 29th in pass blocking.
    • San Diego was dead last, 32nd, in terms of rushing offense. That sure wasn't typical for a Norv Turner offense.
    • The offense line wasn't much better at blocking for the running game, ranking 28th in run blocking.
    • The defense, working under first-year coordinator, came in with an overall grade of -14.3. That's good for 21st in the league.
    • The run defense was ranked 15th in the league. Just about average.
    • The pass rush was ranked 16th in the league. Just about average. In 2011, before the days of Melvin Ingram and Jarret Johnson, the pass rush ranked.....16th in the league.
    • In pass coverage, the San Diego Chargers ranked 26th in the league. Teams worse than San Diego included the Ravens, Saints, Giants and Vikings.
    • The Chargers were average when it came to be penalized on either side of the ball.
    • Special Teams gets graded in just one category and the Chargers ranked 13th. Who knows if that number will remain as good with the departure of Rich Bisaccia.
    Did that tell us anything we didn't know? The offensive line was terrible. The running game was horrendous. The defense was average, except for the atrocious secondary. No, we knew all of these things. What it does, though, is confirm that Pro Football Focus' grades are based in reality.
    She used to be REALLY good, actually. Her first few singles sounded great, but then she seemed like she wanted to be back in high school, so now she has all the current singles out now (which are all pretty much the same song with different lyrics).
