Thanks, I edited some after to make sure our neighbors to the north and south were equally as culpable. ;)

Gotta say, this did give me a good chuckle: You really do have a delightful way of implying alternate realities, re. maturity...within 3 seconds of reading "sophisitcated (sic) chain pullers" :D
my brain played along with "erudite Juggalos."

Early 90s I'm in northern Kenya hitchhiking. Catch a ride in a dump truck of all things. So I'm in the bed of the truck with about a dozen Kenyans who are also hitching and as usual someone has to tell a story. One of the locals pipes up, it goes like this "Two friends of mine hitched a ride in a lorry last year, they climb in and it's full of empty coffins being delivered up the road. They pick up people as the ride goes along and everyone's having a great time smoking, chewing, drinking. Then it starts to rain, so everyone climbs into the empty coffins to get away from the rain. During the rain, the driver picks up more hitchhikers. It stops raining and everyone starts opening up the coffins. One of the new hitchhikers thinks it's the dead coming back to life and jumps off the lorry. It was going 60 KPH so he died."
Everyone on that truck laughed their arses off.
    Good joke?

So he buys the phone, the company says we'll pay the bill, but you can no longer use it for personal calls ? Yep, sounds like a situation only Taco would be able to find himself in

This is just Phase I. Next they'll start given him a vehicle allowance, but with the condition he is only allowed to leave the house home office for business purposes. :sneaky:

How exactly does one get booted from a forum in the midst of a 14-2 season ?

Please don't tell me that was one of the times your expectations were dialed down :speechless:

I like your style, for getting to the bottom of things, Conc. Makes me wonder if we read the same cook text book at some point ;)

After he announced he was going to bed.

Perhaps this was a technique, to ensure you were gonna be able to get to bed yourself at some point ?

I see what you did there ;)

At the SDUT website the Chargers only represent a sub-forum. How you get the boot is to wander over to the News board and get into a high quality flame war with whackos on the opposite side of your political spectrum. When they start to retaliate by deliberately spamming the football board, moderators in the various juridictions begin to lobby the support of the web adminstrator... (less than affectionately known as the Green Lizard).

A couple of the lead antagonists on each side were singled out for UT oblivion. The object of my attention was ten times more abusive than Oz. His schtick was kind of tongue in cheek and the News cronies considered him a parody of sorts. I gave him back his own and that led to some turmoil. He returned after a long exile a quieter version of his former self. He died not long after that.

You and I will require some time to find an adequate ammount of common terminology. Erudite Juggalos did take a bit of decyphering.

    Ah, that explains it.

Seems like the wackos are always, on the other side of the fence, when discussing politics. That's part of the reason I steer clear of those topics.

So is there a story behind the "Sandolf" username, that you care to share with a complete stranger on the Internet ?

I think the lesson of the Chargers boards for me was that you do find reasonable people on the other side. A couple of them I now consider very close friends. And indeed even flaming can lead to concensus.

However this has proven to be rather elusive with Conc. :D

He may have stumbled in the approximate general direction though. It would be fair to say that the one that gave me that nickname was rather engrossed with Lord of the Rings at the time. It happened about 35 years ago and somehow it has been passed along from one group of friends to another.

I see no reason to assume otherwise at this point Conc ........

Are you planning on breaking out the Marching girls for a parade or something ?

How come I never got that when I joined ?

In case you were wondering what you need to do to earn an eight match ban in the Queensland Rugby League.

It's OK, I'm used to disappointment

It is possible that I do need to get my expectations dial re-calibrated though ;)

No matter how bad the Patriots may be, you can count on the Jets being worse..... a universal constant. ;)

You wouldn't have happened to come across an old UN air strip around Mombasa/Malindi, would you? It'd be interesting if we were in the same place around '93-'94.

Bullshit, Jack....... you couldn't call that Monday night game boring by any stretch. Just because the outcome sucked, doesn't mean you were nodding off, you old farkwit. ;)
