My brother and his wife lived in Japan a few years when he was in the Air Force he did enjoy it. Sent from my iPhone
I'm sure it would be interesting as an adult, not sure how it would be for a child. Moving as a kid is hard enough, but going to a foreign culture would be an even bigger adjustment.
When we first married, ('64), that is about it, (we barely owned enough stuff to fill a couple of suitcases and a sea bag), but as time passed we progressed through moving by car, renting a small U-Haul trailer, a U-Haul truck, and finally having the Navy move all of our gear. I don't think I am "cheating" by saying 19, because there are that many different addresses for us that we established in the first 17 years, but about 1/3rd of them were simply moving within the same geographic area trying to improve our lot in life. For instance, in the 70's we established 4 different residencies on the island of Oahu, (Heidi had our daughter in the middle of that). The last one on Oahu was when I made CPO and was eligible to move into "Chief's housing" which was a lot newer/nicer than where we were at, and offered a better school for my son to attend - the Navy didn't help pay for moves unless it was to a different geographic area - but we didn't care if we could improve things for ourselves and our kids. We moved 4 more times when we returned to California - the last one into Murphy Canyon Navy Housing, and that is where I sat my foot down that enough was enough. OBTW, we moved ourselves from Murphy Canyon to El Cajon on my retirement. By that time my son was about 19 and GREAT help. It took us all of a 72 hour weekend, 5 loads in the largest Ryder truck I could rent, (the Navy did pay on my claim for the truck rental), and flat wore us out. Bottom line, I/we could certainly appreciate your comment about moving v/s Military life - (our case was just a bit "extreme").
Yes, yours is an "extreme" example, but you did what was best for your family, so I guess it was worth all the hassle. Even when you get help, moving is never fun. It is a good way to get rid of things you don't really need though.
I agree Blue..... My brother had his son when he returned to the states..... I was just him and his wife in Japan
hahahahahahahahaha....................well that explains why the Japanese never bothered with another war then.
I saw the "Hound" tonight. Poor Watson, old Sherlock wasn't very considerate using him as a guinea pig.
Did you guess what was going on with the gas ? Had me totally intrigued this one............. I seriously doubt I would have the patience that "Watson" has for Sherlock, I'd have kicked his arse well before now. Hope your ready for next weeks "Season 2 Finale" ............... its a ball-buster.
I suspected something was going on as soon as his key card didn't work, and the lights and sounds started. It seemed a deliberate attempt to disorient Watson. They previewed a clip of Moriarty in a cell with "Sherlock" scrawled on the walls......... a bit obsessed, is that one.
Your one smart cookie Mister !!! Ohhhh, you have no idea just HOW obsessed he is .......... have your thinking cap ready to attatch for next week mate !!!
Not sure if you ever go into the Football (Soccer) thread BLEW, but I'm sure you seen the ending to the English Football season. Probably the most amazing finish to a sporting season that I've ever witnessed, all things considering. Hard to put into words to be honest, if you hadn't seen it with your 2 eye's, you'd have a pretty fair arguement that it was all pre-determined and something even Stephen King couldn't congure up. Simply unbelievable and why sports mean what they do to us fans.
The music world has lost another legend I see......... http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/05/13/donald-dunn-dead-dies_n_1512572.html RIP Duck, along with Cropper, Booker T and Jackson, formed one of the alltime great studio bands. The "Blues Brothers" will keep your music alive forever.
I went ecstatic over that finish. Unbelievable if I didn't see it myself. I'm just happy Man U didn't claim the title.
