Some people are saying that we are having a good draft and are *****ing about the people who think we are not having a good draft. I have to say that I am not impressed with it. Just remember there is a 50-50 chance that you are right. We will not know for a few years so just stop thinking that you are right. :icon_tease:

I've never heard ANY of the names the Chargers picked...

having said that I'll trust AJ as the GM over you guys, and I hope that those of you that "have lost respect for AJ" start a thread later on (maybe next season or so) and admit that you where wrong and AJ was right

I agree with Ant, this is the "bring some nastiness and attitude to this soft team" draft :abq2:

P.S. forget all the "is Phillips moving to ILB, wher will he play?.." talk, they find packages, rotate, move around whatever, if they make plays they'll find their way onto the field

I don't see anyone that "supports" this draft thinking they are right, more like a wait and see, in AJ we trust (over you) stance

This draft is AJ's biggest test. AJ is still my man but unlike others I question him from time to time. Only time will tell.

I said earlier that I wondered if English could be moved inside to take Wilhelm's spot. He's a big linebacker with quickness and speed and blitzing him from that position would be real disruptive. If they think they can use him as an LB in a nickel, then he could make that switch without much trouble.

master of puppets. I fully agree. Our defense should train some surprisingly plays, why not rush with 4 or 5 including
    Merriman, Philipps, Tucker and English

Questions about his speed but I wonder if they're not overblown. Guy played very well at USC

A 4.8 and three knee operations. This one may not make out of camp healthy.

They say he is a good field general though. Intelligence over speed at safety everytime for me.

I don't expect anyone to be as excited as me - but I mean, you complain about everything all the time :( It was a serious question, does anything they do ever please you?

I trust the front office to make good draft decisions - they won't always be right and I am still wishing we had a 2nd rounder this year but, over all... I love our team. We won't know for a few months at the very least just how good or bad some of these picks might be but what excites me the most is the direction they seem to be going. Smashmouth aggressive angry football.

You assume so much on what round someone should be - and that we should have traded up etc... I just don't think that they would have passed up someone who was the right fit for our team because they wanted to be "clever".

Has had what looks like some chronic problems with his knees. Not especially fast. His size might make him a stud on special teams.

Watching Ellison's highlights, dude, he brings the freakin pain. Saw him knock some people out. Seriously I don't think he's as slow as the 4.8 speed and if he does he can be one powerful enforcer. I think this guy might be the perfect compliment to Weddle. Oh and he is CONSTANTLY pissed off along with having outstanding character.

HAVE YOU NOTICED THE TREND YET????

I'm excited because AJ has hit alot more than he's missed. English looks like a pass rushing beast and you can never have too many of those guys.

I don't get your "random" comment. English might not have been who you expected, but he was considered a first round prospect. As for Vasquez, the Sporting News had him listed as the 10th best day 2 prospect at the start of the day, and we got him with the 16th pick of day 2, so it seems like we took him around where he was expected to go. The fourth round guys are hard to find fault with. One is a raw NT/DE with huge upside. One is a power runner, which we needed. And one is guay who will provide depth at guard/center, something we really need.

I really fail to see what all the complaining is about, except some always complain because they think they know better than the pros. It's not like we took English when a vastly superior 3-4 lb pass rusher was still available. Last year showed that at the very least we need to improve our depth at OLB. Without Merriman, our pass rush was atrocious.

Look at him run at the combine. I think he is even slower than 4.8.

But speed at safety is overrated. If he can bring the hammer he can be a good pickup.

Here's an article that talks about how bad Mel Kiper's grade of us was for the 2005 draft. link

You never know on draft day and these grades are bullshyt at this point. You have to wait a few years to know if it was a good draft or not.

Typically, the only teams that get really high grades are teams with top 10 picks or teams with multiple first rounders.

There's almost no correlation between draft grades and draft success. The "expert analysts" are as wrong as much as they are right.
