After checking out our 7th round choice Byrd, it seems that AJ thought we didn't have enough dreads on the team.

8th fastest WR at the combine, not too shabby

Jennings the RB is still there, as is Cadogan the OT from Penn St.

Might we nab em as free agents as soon as the draft has ended?.

Yeah, this kid was a mid-rounder who slipped because of a car accident he was in a few weeks ago. Sounds like he wasn't too seriously injured though. Good value in the 7th.

Quick synopsis on D Byrd.

Dude is fast! He's also talented as hell.
Potential to be a game breaker.

But he also could be a attitude problem sometimes.
in '07 we only got to see flashes of his potential (mainly because we were really deep at WR).
in '08, his attitude got in the way sometimes. Our QBs really struggled last year, so he wasn't getting a lot of balls he could do anything with. But then he started dropping balls that should have been caught. It may have all just been a snowballing of a terrible season in the bayou.

We expected a lot out of this kid last year (rumors of him being a 1st rounder in the pre-season). But with no decent QB, his performance really dropped.

Seems to have a decent head on his shoulders. Was kind-of a goof off in high school, so his grades weren't exactly great. Having to go the JUCO route apparently woke him up a bit. Dude busted his *** to become eligible for D1 ball. By all accounts, he's a hard worker in practice as well.

This pick could go either way. Getting him in the 7th is probably pretty good value. If his attitude doesn't get in the way, y'all got a steal. If he never "gets it", not a huge loss.


As far as his accident last week, details are still pretty sketchy.
Some were reporting he was "stable" and in intensive care.
His mom, coach , and agent all said it was just scrapes and bruises.
One paper said they confirmed he was in ICU, another said no hospital in the Miami are had any patients by his name.
So who the hell knows what is status is as far as this is concerned.

I'm happy to see all these guys being described as "nasty" in some form or another. Puts a smile on my face.
