Bears ask for permission to interview Mike McCoy profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/12/31/bears-ask-for-permission-to-interview-mike-mccoy/
AJ likes his puppets coaches to be a little more low key. Then again how great would it be to see the AJ/Rex **** fight. Norv could be OC and Rivera DC.
Before noon, six NFL teams had fired their head coaches: The Bills fired Chan Gailey, the Bears fired Lovie Smith, the Chiefs fired Romeo Crennel, the Browns fired Pat Shurmur and the Eagles fired Andy Reid, and although the Chargers haven’t formally announced that Norv Turner is fired, everyone in San Diego knows that decision has already been made and is just being announced later in the day because the Chargers are on Pacific time. Four general managers — Cleveland’s Tom Heckert, San Diego’s A.J. Smith, Jacksonville’s Gene Smith and the Jets’ Mike Tannenbaum — are also out. Coaches who haven’t yet learned their fates include Arizona’s Ken Whisenhunt, Carolina’s Ron Rivera and Jacksonville’s Mike Mularkey. Might also want to watch Tennessee. Bud Adams is reportedly quite PO'd. EDIT: NFLN reports Munchak will be back in 2013.
Russ Brandon’s solo meeting with Ralph Wilson not viewed as good news for Buddy Nix Posted by Mike Florio on December 31, 2012, 5:26 PM ESTAPThe Bills already have fired their head coach, even though their G.M. said he was safe. Now, their G.M. may be in danger, grave or otherwise. Tim Graham of the Buffalo News reports that team CEO Russ Brandon has traveled to Detroit to meet with owner Ralph Wilson. The fact that Brandon went alone is being viewed as bad news for General Manager Buddy Nix. If so, we should find out soon enough. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/category/rumor-mill/ AJ?
Can't agree with that. Cards finished strong in 2011, started 4-0 in 2012 and then droped 10 straight games.
My predictions...as if it means anything... Chargers: Bruce Arians Bears: Ray Horton Bills: Lovie Smith Chiefs: Kirk Ferentz - Pioli is a lot like AJ, he skips the homework and just hires people he knows. Browns: Jay Gruden Eagles: Chip Kelly Cardinals: Andy Reid
The only question I have about Arians is his age and whether Dean would want someone younger. Arians is 60, I am not sure if Dean will want a guy that old Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
My reasoning is we'd be hiring Arians for the sake of Rivers, Rivers is not a spring chicken anymore either, and when one goes they'll both go. Its kind of a win now before the true rebuilding starts situation. That said I'm not one who believes we can only go offensive minded HC.
