Bolts From The Blue @BFTB_Chargers Chargers team jet on its way back to Denver from San Diego. Guess they’re done talking with Mike McCoy. If this is true they met with each other for 7 or so hours, fingers crossed this means there is a lot of mutual interest
UTKevinAcee @UTKevinAcee “@MecRemy: All quiet on coaching front?” >Execs on way back/just back from Denver. We're all just waiting. One, maybe two interviews to go.
I don't know what to think, Boltville is sure under tight wraps during all this interviewing. I'm still holding out hope for a defensive HC.
Marty Caswell@MartyCaswell Adam Schefter says Mike McCoy is "really eyeing the Chargers job." Believes it comes down to McCoy and Gus Bradley. Interesting.
What concerns me is we haven't interviewed Arians or Roman yet, two guys who could sway this thing in the other direction dramatically due to their connection with Telescopio.
I'm not sure I want to wait for Roman if there's no guarantee we get him and other good candidates could be hired elsewhere in the meantime.
I wonder if Arians isn't more a courtesy interview than anything. It's not like Telesco doesn't already have a strong opinion on the guy. I still feel that with a young owner-in-waiting and a young GM, that they'll want a young up-and-coming HC. Not that Arians couldn't be the guy, but I doubt he'd be their first choice.
I think Arians age and health episode is scaring teams off...... Marty Caswell @MartyCaswell So Bears finalists are reportedly Trestman/Bevell, not Arians. Eagles deny interview for Arians ever set. Any team on radar other than SD?
One of the things I liked about Gus Bradley (Seahawks DC) during their playoff run was how his defense responded to giving up early scores (i.e. they made changes to things that weren't working). They went down in both games and came back to have the lead, including getting off the field on key 4th quarter 3rd downs. Would've been better for him to have shut outs, but these were some dam good offenses with completely different schemes, power/option running vs 3 pro bowl receivers. Does he have a good OC to come in and work for him?
Nothing definite, but his most immediate connections from his rather limited pro coaching experience would suggest ties to Jay Gruden (already employed as an OC), Bill Muir (retired and 70 years old), Paul Hackett (current Raiders QB coach, former Jets OC in the Neil O'Donnell days), Aaron Kromer (current Saints OL coach/interim HC - not a bad option), Greg Knapp (do not want - was the Raiturd OC this past season), Jeremy Bates (former Seattle OC, current Bears/former USC & Donkeys QB coach), and Sherman Smith (current Seattle RB coach, former Redskins OC, former USC assistant).
Jason La Canfora @JasonLaCanfora Chargers are nearing a deal to make Mike McCoy their head coach. Looks like it will be finalized today. More ahead @CBSSportsUnable to confirm with 2nd source as yet. -=dave=- ~~~ Jason La Canfora @JasonLaCanfora Chargers went in heavy on Broncos OC Mike McCoy after Denver's loss to Ravens. Report: Chargers expected to hire Mike McCoy as head coach today http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...ected-to-hire-mike-mccoy-as-head-coach-today/ Report: Chargers expected to hire Mike McCoy as head coach today Posted by Michael David Smith on January 15, 2013, 9:25 AM EST Getty ImagesThe Chargers may be taking their head coach from the staff of an AFC West rival. Mike McCoy, the Broncos’ offensive coordinator, is “nearing a deal” to become the Chargers’ new head coach, Jason La Canfora of CBS reports. After interviewing with the Chargers on Monday, McCoy spoke positively about the experience and said he thought he’d be a good fit for the job. Now La Canfora reports that a deal between McCoy and the Chargers is expected to be completed today. The Chargers, however, were expected to interview Colts offensive coordinator Bruce Arians on Wednesday. And McCoy has been named as a candidate for the vacancies in Arizona, Chicago and Philadelphia as well. So as we’ve seen with several other coaching searches, McCoy’s current status as the favorite for the Chargers job could change. The 40-year-old McCoy was an assistant in Carolina for nine seasons and has been the Broncos’ offensive coordinator for the last four. He has been widely praised for finding ways to succeed on offense while having three very different quarterbacks, changing from Kyle Orton to Tim Tebow to Peyton Manning.
Jason LaCanfora from CBS Sports is reporting the Chargers have made McCoy an offer and are nearing a deal with him (expected to be finalized Tuesday) to make him the new head coach of the Chargers http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/blog/j...oy-nearing-deal-to-become-chargers-head-coach
Breaking news on local ABC tv news: My tweet to Annie: Charger Dave @ChargerDave @annieheilbrunn Ben Higgens, local ABC sports director saying essentially the same thing - not a done deal but could be this AM. Higgens was *very* clear that it wasn't "done", but sounded like his impressions are that they will be crossing t's and dotting i's this morning. He expects an announcement from the Chargers this morning. ~~~ Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter Chargers have offered their HC job to Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy, and the two sides will try to work through a deal today.
AdamSchefter Mike McCoy informed the Broncos this morning that he is accepting the San Diego Chargers head coaching job. 1/15/13 9:57 AM

Young gun, ran offensive systems with Delhomme, Orton, Tebow & Manning in them and all had fantastic years. Really impressive offensive mind and one of, if not the, hottest coordinators on the market today. Yeah that's pretty nice
104.3 in Denver is reporting it is a done deal. They are also reporting that Ken Wisenhunt is the leading candidate to replace McCoy in Denver as OC
Look damnit just because you and I were in the same class together in high school that doesn't give you right of prior ownership. I'm just not into you, especially because of all the Mc jokes I can now make Sincerely Tom Telesco
