I am going with the Theory that the Chargers had already promised the job to McCoy under the condition that made sure the Broncos lost, and if I am correct, I love the new GM
I'm on the fence honestly. But very happy that Telesco (and The Wolf) did their due diligence and didn't pull an AJ by hiring someone they knew. You just gotta wonder if the 49ers had lost would Roman have been the guy.
Really pleased with this, we now have a young HC and GM who could build a very promising future for us.
This I'm very excited to see what Coach McCoy does w/ Rivers and our O. Might we finally see a sort yardage dink and dunk no huddle O?
That's called "let's blame the OC even though it was the HC who decided to allow overtime to happen with Peyton Manning" syndrome
As I speculated earlier, it's hard to blame McCoy for the Broncos' over conservative play against the Ravens when that was classic John Fox from his Carolina days.
By the way, both the GM and HC hires have the BOLTS4LIFE seal of approval. It's going to be weird talking Chargers football with him in the future now that he actually likes both the GM and HC and conversations won't instantly devolve into how much both suck.
Might have been a 2 or 3 better hires. And a ton of worse hirings. That can go for both GM and HC. So im glad hes on board. Any time we can take something from DEN that they could end up missing is always sweet. Im also giving Royal one more year to give us a few games like the record one he had on us. So, whos gonna OC and DC?
Bolts From The Blue@BFTB_Chargers Mike McCoy is in the air and will land in San Diego at 11:55am. @XTRA1360Ben @DSmithShow Looks like we should get our press conference later this afternoon.
I'm just not sure about this hire another offensive mad scientist trying to fit X's &O's into an equation that his sum parts will not total??????
So, how long until some sports writer thinks he's clever writing a profile piece on McCoy and titles his article "The Real McCoy"?
UTKevinAcee @UTKevinAcee The more I hear from agents and people around league, it's unanimous so far that the Telesco/McCoy pairing was a home run.
Just heard CBS Sports talk radio just go over why McCoy is a great fit for SD. And I gotta say im more excited about his hiring. In 2 years as OC/QB coach he took Kyle Orton, Tim Tebow and PM and the schemes for each in stride pretty well. Switching from Orton to Tebow and still had a sucsessful offenseive production. Being so QB savvy it seems will bode well for the chance that he could be just what Rivers needs to get his groove back. What im now wondering, is will we see any FAs from INDY or DEN that find their way to SD? Do they even have anyone at a position that would improve us? I dont know, but FA is what im more focused on that the draft since what we get in FA will change the picture of what we need from the Draft.
From Michael David Smith on PFT this morning:"McCoy’s name rose to prominence in coaching searches a year ago after he successfully changed the offense in Denver on the fly when Kyle Orton was benched for Tim Tebow, and he became an even stronger candidate this year when he successfully changed the Broncos’ offense again for Peyton Manning." No, getting Payton Manning to throw for 4,659 yards is not all that impressive (even on a new team). Re-tooling an entire offense such that a Tebow can take a mediocre team to the playoffs and win a game, THAT makes McCoy a fvcking MAGICIAN!!!
UTKevinAcee @UTKevinAcee Mike McCoy wants to keep defensive coordinator John Pagano ... Pagano under contract for one more year.
I immediately rushed to listen to Charlie Casserly's comment on McCoy, He cracks me up, he's like the NFL's Gilbert Gottfried
for those of you complaining think of this: Dec 31/2012 : Norv and AJ will get one more year Jan 15/2013 : Jim Mora Jr. hired as new Chargers HC (or chose your worst retread) I wanted a "new guy", an up and coming coordinator, most people believe McCoy is a good hire, I'm optimistic
Ricky Henne @ChargersRHenne My two cents after meeting Mike McCoy - Chargers fans will be very happy with this decision. I always did trust the opinion of Ricky Henne
