Can I just say something for the record again?

Whether it was GM or HC, the Chargers did the exact opposite of what many fans, including people ON THIS SITE, thought they would do. They didn't have a coronation for Jimmy Raye, instead they brought the Wolf in and went all over the country. Then they hired a 40yr old whiz kid, someone who survived the purge in Indy and was a top name among candidates for GM. They didn't go for a re-tread, they didn't do the obvious thing with Arians. Within 48hrs of the Broncos losing the Chargers put in a request, sent their plane down, picked him up and interviewed him. From there they sent their jet AGAIN to pick him up bring him here and sign him. All within four days of his season ending, Spanos went out & got a guy that was THE hottest candidate on the market from our primary rival as soon as his season ended. Now the team has a 40yr old GM, a 40yr old coach and a 42yr old soon to be head of football operations in J. Spanos. This is a young talented group of guys coming into this with a clean fresh perspective.

Is this a guaranteed slam dunk? Nope. I have no crystal ball and I have no idea if he'll be Mike McCarthy or Kevin Gilbride. Having said that, Spanos went out and did what NONE of us expected but many of us hoped. He was aggressive, thorough and brought a fresh perspective to the team. If in 4 yrs this doesn't work, I'll be with everyone calling for their heads but TODAY the universal approval of both decisions and the breath of fresh air it entails should be applauded and celebrated.

Either the Chargers provided Tom Telesco & Mike McCoy w/ same tie, or those two shop at the same Men's Wearhouse.

The only offensive minded HC in Bolt history to win a championship was Sid Gillman, I think there is plenty proof against it.

McCoy was heading back for 2nd interviews with 3 teams before the chargers interviewed him. My take is that we saw him, liked him and made an offer before he was taken off the market. Would I have preferred other candidates? Yeah I was into Gus Bradley in a big way, doesn't make me right (I was on Blaine Gabberts bandwagon). I'm just happy he's not Jim Mora.

Telesco said he was just blown away by McCoy during the interview process, about half way through he turned to John Spanos and said "Wow!"

He then tried to change it up a bit asking him different questions to get a better feel, said McCoy Aced every question

Philip Rivers respectful of Norv, but says he is excited by youth & energy brought by Telesco and McCoy. "If we're changing, let's change."

Also, here's the input from one of my fellow moderators (who also has the affliction of being a Donkeys fan) over at FootballsFuture on the McCoy hire:

"Awesome, man!" replied Johnny, "I thought no one was ever gonna invite me to WoW with them!"
he exclaimed, calling up Mists of Panderia on his shiny Dell...
"Did you get corrupted blood from that bastard Hakkar the Soulflayer down Zul'Gurub way, Tommy?!?"
he gleefully queried, but then he realized, in that sweet, boyish way of his, that Tommy was simply pleased
with how the interview was going.

Crestfallen for a moment, but then eager to jump start his own mood, Johnny giggled:
"Tell the media that 'Mike Acee'd every question!!'"
"Oh, I will," soothed Telesco..."I will..."

Wow I am blown away from his conference. He sounded like a COACH. The part I like most is hell be putting down the clipboard. I also like how he said he's going to keep his cool, but you'll see him snap. That's the attitude a coach needs to where the players won't want to see his bad side. I'm drinking the kool-aid.

I'm officially on the Telesco/McCoy bandwagon.
Day 1. Watched the McCoy presser. I don't miss "bacon-neck" at all now.

A+ interview. Better than anything we've seen in 6 years of Norv.

    For what it's worth.

After the Chargers raised my ticket prices by $190 a seat I was very close to cancelling my season tickets just to show the Spanos's how stupid they are. Hell, I was close last year after there PR dude told me to "Take a Chill Pill"! Then they have to go and get a solid looking GM and a great coach. Fuckers just cost me $380 a year!

I can sum up McCoy in four letters; MFIC

Loved the press conference and feel confident about what this group could lead to

I hope i'll be my active self on these forums again. I took this season off, as I had nothing nice to say about the teams retaining Norv and AJ. I felt It was going to be a lost season, and didn't want to be mr. negative.
I figured the changes being made so far, are going to lead to a better outlook, and that seems to be the case.

    Very well stated.
I personally like the "young" factor all the way around.....although it makes me really feel like an old f**k now. ;)

Yah, the last time we made a uniform change (Other than the Nike\Rebook switch) was for the "LT" generation. Seeing as we are ushering in a new culture and era for the Chargers, why not change up the uni's and go Power Blue at home and the sexy all white's away!
