He's saying Holgrem and Mora fit under deans meaning of "Retread" so hopefully neither will be considered for hire

No... he's saying Dean DOESN'T want a retread and that Mora and Holmgren (but not Lovie) fit his (KA's) definition of a retread..

I guess I don't understand how he puts Holmgren in that category. He resigned from Green Bay and just let his contract run out in Seattle, I would think he's kind of a special category.

Not that I'm a huge Holmgren fan, but I won't be angry if he is our choice.

He's not counting whether he was fired, I don't think. Not entirely sure his logic, but he was very specific in naming Holmgren and Mora as fitting that description in his mind. And he's got the ear closest to the crack in the door right now, so I tend to take his word over most others (though still with a grain of salt).

The other thing I think Acee may be getting at that Dean may not be too keen on Holmgren with is his age - KA's made it pretty clear he's certain Dean is aiming for a coach that can be here for at least as long as Norv was and hopefully (assuming he's actually any good) longer. With Holmgren turning 65 this year, he's maybe got 4-5 years of coaching left in him most likely.

Again, I'm like you, I'm not a huge Holmgren fan, but I'd take him over schlepp like Arians or Mora or even Lovie (because every Bears fan I talk to insists that "adapting his defense" is simply something Lovie will not do - not to mention Lovie's got reverse Andy Reid syndrome, whereas Andy can't seem to hire a quality DC, Lovie is terrible at hiring offensive staff).

So basically he wants an experienced HC, who is around 50 years old, who has a reputation of winning, can fix Philip Rivers, and isn't asking for 8+ mil a year or GM control.......because those guys are just wandering around the streets.:coffee:

I think they need to be more forward thinking. Chip Kelly absolutely needs to be in the conversation, Jay Gruden, Vic Fangio, maybe even Kyle Shanahan.

I'd even throw Mark Roman, Brad Seely (this guy has well-respected current and former coaches praising him out the yin-yang FWIW), for God's sake why not Ray Horton in that mix. I realize that some folks are insistent that we need an offensive-minded coach to fix the D, but I don't think that's the case so long as he has ties to quality offensive programs (and thus coaching staffs he can poach from) - though Roman is an offensive coach and Seely is a former TE/OL coach with ties to Harbaugh, Belichick, and Pete Carroll.

Actually, Ralph turned over his organization control to CEO Russ Brandon last week. So someone needs to put Russell in the Cone of Shame.

Actually, reports said he postponed the meeting and only had dinner with him

Josh McDaniels already said he is staying in NE and I do agree with you about Lovie and Mora, but then you some how thing Holmgren is a better choice? He is a worse choice than Mora. There is a reason that no team in the NFL has touched him in 4 years, he is a retread that no one wants anything to do with.

According to Acee, the Chargers are dead set on staying away from retreads, and are looking for fresh blood

Well... playing Devil's advocate here (note: I'm not a fan of a Holmgren hire, but just pointing out what may be facts). Part of why he left coaching to begin with was because his wife wasn't keen on him being on the road as much as coaching had him traveling (and he wanted to dedicate more time to his ministry). Another reason why many were hesitant to touch him was he was known to require heavy personnel control along with any coaching gig he considered - and he's terrible with personnel (see Cleveland where the two QB's he pressed to take in his time there were Colt McCoy and Brandon Weeden). If he's relinquished wanting personnel control, there are far worse hires as stand-alone coaches. But he's far from the top of my list.

Glad I'm not the only one that saw that tweet. Though he did reply to me that he doesn't consider Lovie a retread.

He would barely be above keeping Norv in my book. I don't want any retreads, nor do I want a nearly 70 year old man coaching this team

I'm waning on Arians and Jay Gruden, who both were high on my list before.

Arians due to arguments made on this forum and his age.

Jay after that atrocious output by the Bengals offense yesterday.

Canepa was clear, he wants a new "face". And if I had to see his face every time I looked in the mirror, I'd want a new face too.

Raye was part of the current staff, and because he allegedly disagreed with A.J. On some picks (though we don't know which ones) he's a great choice?
