The good news is that our defense held them to 7 points. You can really tell the match-ups were there, as our lack of talent at SS and CB were matched perfectly with their lack of talent at TE and WR. At least we know that we just need to get CBs and a SS (or have Taylor learn to play) to have a shut-down defense. The other good news is that we lost, and that this L will be an important tie-breaker come the draft.
Weeden made plays when he had to and it really showed once again how bad our Corners are. We have to have a Dallas Cowboys type of mentality next year in Free Agency and draft. Sign the top CB (Rodgers-Cromartie) and trade up 8 spots to get the top CB in the draft. Simple as that.. We also need Vincent Brown, Sharecee Wright, and Antonio Garay back. What the **** is taking Garay so long?!
Healthy Scratch & depth. The DL is the one area I'm not concerned about but damnit if we can trade him for OL help then Dear God DO IT!
Over the last 3 years we always come up short in the tough ones. Eli Manning was right not to want to play for AJ Smith, the team he has on the field now is MUCH weaker now, directly due to AJ Smith. 'Hey Philip don't worry about losing VJ, we got you Droppy McGuilicutty instead...don't worry if you have no O-Line, we're sure you can scramble and make a play, don't worry about LT retiring, we got you Fumbly Jenkins instead, Gates is getting old you say? Nah, he's as fast and sure handed as ever, and we got you this offensive genius of a coach man, he's so smart he'll call a reverse to Droppy in the rain after you just rammed 3 straight down their throats and Droppy just dropped a pass and the other team recently fumbled on a double reverse, he's that smart man! Hey Phil you don't seem like your playing as good as you used to, is something wrong?' Sure Denver could lose tonight and we can beat KC at home, and pick up a few others and squeak into the playoffs, maybe, but we'll have to go on the road and play New England or Pittsburgh, hows that weather going to feel in December. The one benefit of firing Norv mid season is that we probably will drop an extra game or two and move up in the draft.
WOW, when I was going off earlier this year all I heard about was how much I was complaining. I went off on us keeping Norv, I even made a HUGE bet that we would NOT go to the Super Bowl with Norv as our Head Coach. I took everything you could throw at me. This team is pathetic. and it starts with Spanos. Now dont get me wrong I am still a San Diego Chargers fan, I will not give in. But this team is complete garbage. When the Browns beat us, what do we have to look forward to?
I think that keeping Norv will result in more losses than getting an interim HC. The players have given up on Norv, they might play for an IHC.
Oh my god....... we ae done! No player or coach, or staff or anything is going to help this team. The **** that sucks is we have to start over..... again
yes Well, a new coach, 5 new O-linemen, and 2 new starting CBs would probably help this team alot if they were all upgrades to the current players. The best part is, with the 1st overall pick next season, we could probably actually make all of that happen (Mike Harris could start over Clary today for an immediate, massive upgrade).
The above is a true statement, but I'd add that it looked like a classic bad weather hard fought game between 2 bad teams. The Browns were on their 3rd and 4th string DTs, and we still couldn't get push up the middle on running plays and our pass blocking was also awful. The playcalling was of course atrocious, but there were a lot of dropped balls that hit our receivers right in the hands. The game was a lot more enjoyable to watch for me than other games this season, because I've decided to root for losses so that the team will be competitive in the immediate future. Instead of being disappointing by Norv's ineptitude, I was relieved by it. When the Chargers had a legitimate chance to win the game at the end, I wasn't disappointed by Clary screwing the pooch, the interior line getting driven back 4 yards, or the receivers dropping the ball. Norv's terrible use of a time out at a critical point in the game for no reason was so expected and welcome, that my wife and I high-fived. I think the best moment in the game was the pass to Meachem where, completely wide open and behind the entire Cleveland D, Rivers delivered the ball into his hands, in stride, and he dropped it. 51 yd TD off the board. For reference, he was about as open as Eric Decker was last week on the play he tripped after catching a sure TD. Mathews fumbled the ball, but I don't think he deserves a pass because it was wet. He's a tough runner, he's an elite talent, but he's a fumbler. I'm not sure if it's that we don't have a real OC, or maybe our RBs coach is just awful, but it really is too bad. When you see how well he runs in spite of how bad our O-line is, it's just unfortunate that he can't figure out how to run with the football high and tight.
The Chargers have had pizza delivery boys in the past that have played better than Meachem and Royal. Both of those dudes suck arse so far this year.
I'm a waiter at a restaurant and today was ******* busy during work (full restaurant, another waitress calls in sick, I'm working through a top 5 hangover of all time) but when I finally checked the score it was 7-6 at the end of the 3rd I burst out laughing. If I would've been watching I would've been more upset but I don't really even care anymore. I still am a fan of the Chargers but I'm at my mid-season form in regards to apathy.
And we could have won every Super Bowl if we kept Brees... Shoulda, coulda woulda... We see you trollin...
I'm honestly not even mad, I'm laughing. Fresh from a bye, having supposedly put the 2 tough losses behind us, playing against or easiest opponent of the year... Wow, just wow. There are college teams that could've at least got 1 TD against the Browns, but yet supposed offensive mastermind Norv Turner can't lead this horse to a puddle in the pouring rain. Have to laugh at how bad we suck right now, no point in getting mad, because our organisation doesn't seem mad or care so why should we? Lets just all have a chill pill and enjoy the season because there's still so much to play for, like a high lottery pick...
