Im willing to let him ride and take him with a 4th round pick. Sean Richardson in the 5th if he goes, and even 6-7th take Brandon Hardin.
I agree in theory, but I'm actually against drafting Jammer's replacement until we know exactly what damn scheme we're going to run and stick with one consistently. Unless you're getting a guy with elite upside there's little point to drafting zone-corners in the 1st round as their lack of pure recovery speed is going to push them to the 2nd and 3rd anyway. If we ever do go back to straight up press-man coverage, you want to invest high picks in your corners if you don't have the luxury of guys on the roster that allow you to take the time to develop the greener guys with tons of upside (history supports me on this in the modern draft era). And there we go... Rick Spielman just dropped a Cleveland Steamer on AJ's man-crush.
I'm one of Hardin's biggest supporters, but I'm not convinced he wouldn't be a guy we'd still be annually looking to upgrade over. As 6th round picks go, he's an awesome get because he's a stellar ST player as well who makes guys like Goodman expendable for more productive receivers (unless we seriously give Goodman looks he doesn't deserve as a returner). A guy I'm keeping my eye on (and yes, I know the boo-birds with their "small school hatred" will come out for this one) is Justin Bethel from Presbyterian College - it may take him about 10 weeks or so to really get his feet wet but he reminds me of Nick Collins in A LOT of ways.
Jammer was kinda a whatif scenario type thing. I was figuring a decent CB that played a season at SS then went back to CB say... mid season he would still be decent. Provided he were in to replace Cason it could end up a servicable for the span of games it requires for him to play there. Or even lined up in place of Jammer and say Cason continues to improve and takes the CB1 spot and leaves the other guy in the other spot. We wouldnt be any more/less off with a CB from a year ago or a CB we got in the 2013 draft it would probably produce the same #s we could expect from Jammer and Cason.
hes not gonna last until the 3rd round im not even sure hes gonna last until 49 this guy is a top 20 talent and the only knock on him is he likes to smoke a little weed in his free time haha idk but id think about it then move jammer to ss? gilchrist to ss? let him take over for jammer next year? this 2nd round pick should be going towards our defense and with no safeties worthy of a pick at 49 what other position could we pick to improve our defense? ILB? eventhough with a pick at ilb the whole LB position on our team would be as stacked as our wr position on offense
Denver evidently doesn't want DT's. Devon Still ripe for the picking and they pass twice. Watch for the Bucs to take Doug Martin here.
surprising when Denver could've picked a DT or a RB there, but now t he Bucs have a competent RB who has a brain
Top 20 talent, UDFA character. Why don't people grasp how much character registers with most front offices across the league? I'm still standing by my belief that a solid one third (or more) of teams in the league don't even have Jenkins on their boards AT ALL.
i just think janoris is immature i dont think hes a bad person.. their are people with character concerns with them being criminals or just flat out bad people.. i think he made some stupid decisions but decisions just about every college kid makes.. look at percy harvin he failed a drug test prior to the draft for smoking some weed but nobody really talks about percy harvin in the same way people do janoris jenkins.. i dont think janoris jenkins character concerns effect his game on the field outside yeah if he got caught he'd miss a few games with a suspension
Giants about to put the dagger in CoronaDoug's, Michael Irvin's, and the U's hearts on the streak of 1st round selections.
I really like what Aj said in that interview didnt seem snobby or secretive towards the fan base and i like it
Percy Harvin had a medical marijuana prescription for migraines (an actual legit prescription too, not just the BS one's that a lot of folks here in CA get for "poor appetite" and "anxiety" and such). Jenkins is a repeat repeat-offender. That goes past immature and into just plain STUPID. The final sentence you made is just flat out wrong. It has before and any sound betting man would tell you it's only a matter of time before it happens again - because the odds are better that he will than he won't at this point going off of past indicators he's given us. Getting kicked off a National championship and perennial championship-contending team wasn't enough to get him to straighten up, he continued to piss into the wind at Northern Alabama. Sorry but homey's used up his benefit of the doubt - and his neighbor's benefit of the doubt. He'll be lucky to play out his entire rookie contract (4 years) without getting multiple suspensions from the league.
i disagree, janoris has character concerns obviously but they arent concerns that effect his play on the field IMO
