Hold judgment unit the playoffs. As I recollect we went pretty deep in the playoffs after a 4-8 start. Have faith. I've been a fan far too long to consider this a loss despite a win.

Consider this a scrimmage to prepare for the regular season. And yes, we could come out of this opening stretch at 2-3.

Mark my words, we will be here come February.:abq2:

From what I saw of Rivers today I am most definitely not counting this team out.

Say what you will about sloppy play leading up to the 4th quarter, that was some clutch **** right there.

We won one game. That's not going pretty deep in my book.

And we better improve, a hell of a lot, because right now our lines on both sides are full of average at best players and unproven rookies who haven't done **** in the NFL. People can harp on the play of skill position guys, but right now our trenches look like ****. They looked like **** in the playoffs last year. They looked like **** in the preseason. And they looked like **** tonight. They better improve or we will be incredibly inconsistent this season, just like the offensive and defensive lines.

Speaking of the "offensive" offensive line, does Clary remind anyone else of a certain player we had on the team a few years back? First name of turnstyle, last name of Jordan?

Do me a favor and read through my posts in this thread.

I'm hardly on the "let's panic" train Ant is.

or did you only read the post asking to give Ant some slack and ignore the rest?

Pretty much the first 3 1/2 quarters. Pats were down 11 with 5:38 to go. They drove down and scored, then one of the Bills kick returners tried to be a hero on the return and fumbled. Pats recover, Brady puts them ahead for good.

I've said we need to make big improvements. I think this team looks worse then it did at the start at 08 or 07. I feel like I'm thr only one who is acknowledging the problems this team has instead of being swept up in the joy of the victory. In that I'm thr only one who doesn't seem to think it's all sunshine and lollipops.

And FYI I survived in law school by noticing my
mistakes and faults and working on them. What I'm doing now. People who stuck their fingers in their ears to their failings were kicked out in the first semester

I think the 'D' was good. They managed to adapt and hit it hard. Give them a few games to gel and we will be OK.

The O-Line sucked horribly. We need about 2-3 FA pick ups. Stupid mistakes and horrible blocking.

BTW Norv, where was the 8-12 yd crossing route by Gates that is so sucsessful?

Regardless, we will be here come February.

Dielman didn't look great either - love my adopted boy but he needs to step up his game, he's better than that.

OK...here is what I am taking from tonight's game
    1) The Chargers are 1 - 0
    2) They won a division game on the road
    3) Oakland is actually improving
    4) Our guys need a lot of work
    5) Rivers and co. battled back and finished the game strong
    6) The defense overcame Hart and held off the final drive
    7) I get way too wrapped up in the game to even think about posting after the opening kickoff!
    and....
    8) 12 in a row!!! Ya gotta love it!

Patch up the walking wounded...the Ravens are coming

    Congrats to the Chargers!!!!!!! :abq2::abq1::abq2:

If we had lost, I would have been so pissed.

What's up with Oakland's ghetto *** football field with all the dirt????!!!

Phuck that ghetto *** city, and phuck their ghetto *** team. A loss to that crap team and grimy *** city would have been absolutely humilating.

Chargers need to do A LOT better next time. If the refs hadn't reversed that touchdown play, we'd all be crying right now.

    Still...

    PHUCK OAKLAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m very relieved that we won…and trying to enjoy the moment. I thought we played to the level of the Raturds…a cellar dweller team. With that said the last drive was awesome and Rivers took the helm and made it happen. I also remember we sucked last year but still made the playoffs. So, time to take a deep breath, be glad we won the game, enjoy the Raturds loss…and hope we find a pass rush and offensive line by next week.

I was saying that I agree with you. The Chargers played like **** and probably didnt deserve to win. Conc is the one who lacks any shred of objectivity.

There was a time not too long ago when we shared a field with a baseball team.

Rivers drove the team to the endzone in a 2 minute drill that would leave ESPN slobbering all over him if his name was Tom Brady.

Don't say the team didn't deserve to win just because it was a bit ugly leading up to it.

I agree with a lot of what Ant says, but I think this is a bit of a stretch.

I don't like the fact that we had to have a bad ref call go in our favor either, but I'll take it. Winning with help is better than losing and looking up to Oakland. Plus, those refs made up for it when they turned a blind eye to the cheap shots the raiders dline through at us after the whistle later in the game.

Glad we're 1 - 0, let's get ready for a tough game against the Ravens.

I give the Raiders and Bills a ton of credit for tonights games. All I kept hearing was how the Pats and Chargers would just win by 50 points. Both these teams stepped up and made Monday night great. Would have loved to see the Bills pull that out, still can't believe how that one ended, I know the Pats are a very good team but dang does the ball always seem to bounce their way, kinda of the polar opposite of the Bengals.

I think Ants point is...we're lucky it was the Raiders.
Because we'd have been throttled by a lot of other teams, and Rivers would never have had the chance.
