Gotta love the "coaching staff sucks" comment during a 24-0 ***-whooping. For the record, I'll trade a timeout for a TD every day of the week.
There is never an excuse to have delay of game at home! Just bad coaching....but you are right, they are doing more things right than wrong! I gave Norv love for that.
But there's no excuse for that. If the game were closer, timeouts would be critical and there they are burning them like matches. It's basic to the game to manage the clock and yet in several games this year, it's been a big problem and the staff makes the team look like idiots. On the home turf, it's pathetic.
Sometimes it's not a delay of game because of not being prepared. Sometimes the timeouts are tactical. If you call a play and the defense changes to a look you don't like right before the snap, you are sometimes better off burning a timeout than running a potentially negative play. Also, one of those timeouts was simply so that Norv could think about the 4th and 1 decision. I think that's a smart one. He took the extra time, made the right call and the Bolts got a TD.
agreed, that's something that HAS to be fixed next week, no exceptions and no questions. But TONIGHT it's not a big deal
Yeah and sometimes the offense can't get coordinated. Which in all honestly seems to be the case for us most often.
He took the extra time becaue they almost had their thrid delay of game...bad time managment as a whole...good time out as you suggest in this case.
I like that we're trying to get Mathews work. It just takes a crease with 8 in the box, and he'll be behind the secondary.
Yep...this shows a lack of coordination which is either the coaching staff or Rivers...considering how upset Rivers looks, I suspect it is the coaching staff.
I disagree. It's not pathetic to burn a timeout to ensure a good outcome on a play. Sometimes a positive play is worth the timeout. The Chargers burned 2 timeouts on their first drive of the 2nd half--a drive that ended in a TD. You assume that the end result of the drive would have been the same if they had not used the timeouts, but that's pure conjecture.
