    Chargers open on road in Kansas City

    The storyline
    Chargers aim to show Pro Bowlers Vincent Jackson and Marcus McNeill are expendable and the Chiefs open up their renovated stadium looking to become a factor in the AFC West.

    Why you should watch
    Chargers' gamble on McNeill and Jackson will make every game interesting. Rookie RB Ryan Mathews takes over for L.T. Matt Cassel's second season in Kansas City could be his last without marked improvement.

    San Diego has won four consecutive AFC West titles. ... Chargers QB Philip Rivers is 20-4 in his career against divisional opponents. ... Kansas City RB Thomas Jones has rushed for 1,000 yards in his last five seasons. ... Chiefs QB Matt Cassel led the league with 10 fourth-quarter TD passes last season.
