The bourbon is poured...nice win, albeit a little too close for comfort.

This feels like our first win last year, left me feeling blah.

We are a long way from being an elite offense, Norv is still a coward, and we still make an incredible about of stupid mistakes.

Great game for about 58 minutes. Chargers fell asleep towards the end committing Raider like penalties.

Wish we capitalized more on our opportunities/turnovers. Gates was off today missed a clear TD and a few grabs, made up with the one handed snag though.

Really liked out D, did English even get in? Our corners had problems once again today.

But not putting much stock into this one, first week of the season, anything happens. 1-0.. Time to head home and improve.

          Palmer out passed Rivers statistically...

However he was sacked 3 times to Rivers' 1.

not sure why every1 is so disappointed in our cb's... raiders killed us with check downs all game and then towards the end we were in a prevent... raiders leading receivers was mcfadden then the TE

The Chargers have a unique ability to win a game and still make it unenjoyable to watch..... it's a gift. ;)

I'm stoked. I'll take the win and it sounds a helluva better than last year's opener, when we had to overcome a 10 point deficit against the Vikings at home.

I'm on the world's slowest internet and have not seen or read much about the game, but looking at the stat sheet, I have some reasons for optimism. The pass rush sounds like it got better as the game went on. The run D was stout against one of the better backs we will face all year. Rivers was solid in a tough situation, 100+ passer rating, no INTs. Clearly we need to get Mathews back.

Most of you sound like you already have your minds made up about everything, and just watch the game waiting for your favorite player/coach/scapegoat to make a mistake so you can say "told ya so." In the first half, we give up some plays and 6 points and you'd think it was the worst defensive performance ever by the comments. In the 2nd half, we shut them out until the last minute and all I hear is "The Raiders offense got tired." LOL. Chill out. It's game 1. We have a lot of new pieces and some significant injuries on offense. This team will get better. But it's a division win, on the road, in a game we would have figured out a way to lose the last two years.

I think this D is going t be alot better. Last year we gave up 1000+ yards to the Turds in two games. This might have not been pretty, but it was a vast improvement. And 5/15 on third downs is a very positive sign.

Once Meach and Royal get gamed up the offense should be explosive, it just ain't there yet.

Oh, I dunno......a W is a W, and beating Oakland IN Oakland is extra awesomeness.

IMHO, special teams and defense looked better than they have in a couple of years. Offense still can't seem to get it done in the red zone, though, and no team can win many games on the leg of a kicker no matter how accurate he is. If it hadn't been for the horrid play on the part of the Raiders' long snapper---the poor baahstahd---the outcome might have been very different, so we'd do well to work harder on scoring TDs. Philip Rivers sure looked good tonight, threw some long ones and NO picks. But we gotta get it into end zone more than once per game.

Methinks we got us some stuff to work with this season. :)

Beating the Raiders on the road always makes me happy. I love seeing Raider fans cry on national TV before they head back to the prison cells they call home. :raiderssuck:

We all knew going into this game there were question marks - especially on O. It's week 1, can we at least wait a couple games before we start complaining about every little thing that didn't go right? Next up, Titans at home on a short week. I'll be looking for the offense to get it together a bit more and for the defense to continue bringing the intensity I saw tonight.

Keep the faith guys, it's not a sprint, it's a marathon. No reason to get too high or too low on this one.

Well I ended up 2 hours behind on the live feed. BUT we win. I can see that. Damn givin up the td at the end.

SO that was what, Gates' seventh or eighth one handed catches? Either way the most recent one seems to shine as the best to me right now.

seriously, that initial image is friggen AMAZING! If I had it my way, you are the official thread starter FOREVER@!

Oh, and the game was awesome. I am glad the Raiders are getting a taste of our special teams disasters that we had to deal with in previous seasons!

Game/team assesment I see, as much as I think Ronnie Brown can work the carryload.... he didnt seem to look the part of a RB1. Brinkley did good on a number of plays but also didnt look that great for a RB2. We need our RB chess piece.

From what I heard, the long snapper for Okeland is a kid from Vista High School. Pass protection??!! The Rayturds needed witness protection, they got mugged from all sides from our 'D', and I like what I saw. Of course, it was even sweeter to see the Okland fans leave the bar early, typical losers... Go Bolts!!!
