Even though the D seems again to be our main concern, I think we look less potent on O without VJ and Big Mac. Rivers numbers (both QB rating and yards per completion) were down. Rivers did not look as comfortable in the pocket to me. I hope I am wrong, but missing those guys looks like it might hurt us.

I feel good overall. 500 yds given up and only 29 pts scored up untill near final half of the 4th quarter. If ppl dont kno *other teams fans* we run a Bend but dont Break D pretty often. As far as I have noticed in recent seasons/regimes.

Would have liked to see better Run D from the 2nd teamers.

The Good:

Rivers - Still efficient, getting the ball off quickly, but possibly trying to do TOO much

Mathews - Looks great, he needs better blocking but the kid runs fast and hits hard

Floyd - Looks so smooth catching the football, so deceptive with his speed

Dombrowski - Still looking fairly solid, but come on AJ, one low block to the knees and Tyronne Green is the starting left tackle...

Cooper - Stephen looks like he is about to have a Prison Shower **** scene with every guy he hits, is it me or does the dude look pissed off at the world??

Cason - Doing a fair job on the corner and the kid will lay a hit, loved that they showed Cromartie's chicken **** no tackle and didnt call it a whif, said he just chose not to tackle the dude...

Weddle - Still the best tackler in the open field on this team

Honorable Mention: Williams, Ajirotutu, Thomas and Jammer


The Bad:

2nd String defense - If your not gonna tackle and wrap up, get the **** off my team... EOM ...

Vasher - Got an easy pick due to pressure, but even on his good coverages he just looks slow. Dude has all the skills but I think the past injuries he's had are just too much to overcome.

The 2 lineman just standing around on the final squib kick - IMHO cut the sons of *****es right now. Any high school kid who just looked at a squib kick on the ground and waited for the back to get there with the kicking team barreling down would have his *** kicked up and down the field by the coach. Not even sure who they were, saw some number 70's and was too pissed off to look.

Volek - The young WR's were open all night and he was missing them long, behind, and short. He short armed the second for a pick 6. I know the second\third string lines were not holding up well and the Saints were blitzing a **** ton but come on Billy, you got to deliver the pass

Starters looked pretty good, the pass defense has a few things to work on, but they seem to be getting better.

Well, all that's left is the Thursday scrub-a-thon in San Francisco and then September 13th it is on!!!
