I feel the same about this Chargers team that I did about that damn ship at the end of the movie. SINK SINK SINK SINK SINK.
Ah yes, Game Day! Let's see if the Bolts can end this skid and start taking care of business! GO BOLTS!!!
Pointy, ending the skid would constitute not taking care of business. Go Bolts! (into the bottom of the standings ASAP!)
The answer to that question is wholly dependent on whether or not you embrace the suck or not, friend.
If this game starts to suck you can always flip over to ESPN for another crappier game VT @ The U! Battle of Mediocrity!
Win or lose, I am ready to hear the announcement of an interim Head Coach and General Manager, (both promoted from within), by tomorrow evening. <sigh>
That poster is hysterical!!! As a season seat holder, I have already spent money on tonight's circus...just win the damn game guys!!!!! I really hate paying to see sloppy play and losses....but I will be there to support what's left of my team!
San Diego ChargersNext move: Show Smith the door.In truth, coach Norv Turner and general manager A.J. Smith should've been let go at the end of last year. A meaningless win against the Oakland Raiders shouldn't have been enough to bring the pair back after yet another season of underachievement and failure. The Chargers got Norved yet again Sunday, losing to the inferior Cleveland Browns. I wrote two weeks ago that the Chargers' season and the Smith-Turner regime basically ended with the epic collapse against the Denver Broncos. But in an effort to save the season, operating under the sure-to-be-correct assumption that both Turner and Smith are done at the end of the year, I'd fire Smith right now.I thought Smith should've been fired immediately after he disparaged his own team in comments he made to Kevin Acee of U-T San Diego regarding the loss to Denver."It was an embarrassing and humiliating performance by a team going in the wrongdirection fast," Smith had the nerve to tell Acee."We have some outstanding, talented players on this team and some outstanding coaches across the board. But obviously, we cannot play as a team. We appear to not be able to handle adversity or finish games. Individual and team confidence appears to be going south."That's a morale killer.I'd have him pack his bags right now, and then fire Turner at the end of the year.
So the only question is whether Charger fans will demand Turner/Smith fired later (win today) or immediately (lose today)
I hope that we lose today but keep Turner. I think that gives us the best chance at losing out this year.
Is there a chance that someone is still fired even with a W? I think with a loss Turner is fired. With a win he will last the season. There is no better time than after a Thursday night game.
If there's such a thing as "winning through losing", I feel that this evening it is just that! If we notice that some of the players are not going to let their motors run at 100% (the ones who actually possess that kind of motor) because they have seen the writing all over the wall and rather have the House cleaned and cleared early, we will note the mutiny and may actually thank them for this later! However, if we note that the players are playing their guts out, then we will know that they are putting their money where their mouth is for Norf & Co. However, I do not predict the latter scenario for AJ Smith as he so famously flamed and threw his players/coaches under the bus again, just as the Cleveland Game had ended!
