Something some of the old timers have forgotten or flat out refuse to admit was back in the days of the AFL it was a us against the world mentality. The old AFL teams rooted for the AFC against the NFC because of Conference pride.
The AFL was treated like a bastard step child and not respected as football initially so we kind of stuck together (Raider and Chargers fans alike) when it came to the Super Bowls. That is the way I remember it.

My Bolttalk Brothers and Sisters, I have but one question:
DO YOU BELIEVE IN MIRACLES? DO YOU BELIEVE?
Embrace the hate, my brother!! :icon_twisted:
All the ingredients are in place to make this game "one for the ages".
It has been 13 years since our last walk down this road. The Chargers opportunity to take the Pats claim for immortality is soon to be upon us.
I will enjoy every moment .......History is about to be written.
I think today does call for some poetry, probably my favorite speech from Shakespeare which (in my mind) describes us Charger fans here in San Diego. King Henry's Soliloquy
He that shall live this day, and see old age,
Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbors,
And say 'To-morrow is Saint Crispian':
Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars,
And say, 'These wounds I had on Saint Crispians day.'
Old men forget; yet all shall be forgot,
But he'll remember with advantages,
What feats he did that day; then shall our names,
Familliar in his mouth as household words,
Harry the King, Bedford and Exeter,
Warwick and Talbot, Salisbury and Gloucester,
Be in their flowing cups freshly remember'd.
This story shall the good man teach his son;
And Crispian Crispian shall ne'er go by,
>From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remembered:
We few we, happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother: be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition;
And Gentlemen in England now abed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispians day.
damn Ant you beat me. I was just digging out my complete works for the St Crispin Day speech.
I guess I'll just say GO BOlts!
As crazy as Al Davis is now, we have to give him props for all he did for the AFL. Without him we wouldn't have the NFL as we know it.
As the Gov stated:
"Go Chagas GO!"
time for music to drown out the talking heads saying we will lose.
Pump Up the Hate!:icon_twisted:

Perfect first play : Have Manamamamamauleaaa run an out right at Belichick then have the Qb Throw the ball right at Belichick. Crash BAm Boom. 300 pounds os Charger all over that punk
It' almost like we need one of those Dennis Green speaches...."They are who we thought they we're !" "If you wanna crown they're *** then crown em"
What is the world coming to when we have a Raiders fan wishing us good luck?
Seriously though, thank you T.Brownfan
Ditka is giving our defense and special teams major props on NFL countdown right now.
Yes he is. I have a feeling that it is going to be our D that is the difference today. They say you win championships with defense. We will see.
saw that and he wasn't even adjusting his package at the time
OFFICIAL SUPER BOWL PREVIEW THREAD: BOLTS @ PATS!!!!
That's the nicest thing anyone's ever said to me lol...I am definitely up for our guys ruining some history! I'm so excited I feel like a little kid about to go to Disneyland.
He rubs it for good luck.
How many times in the history of the NFL have there been teams that appeared to be unbeatable? Many. What do all of those great teams of the past have in common ('72 'phins excluded)? They were all beaten.
Today is the Patriots turn to be the great team that gets beaten.
We have the 72 phins on our side today.
Never forget 94. Dennis Gibson will be with us today.
I hate those bitter old coots. But if their champagne is the reason our boys pull this one off... I might reconsider my position.
HERE WE GO CHARGERS HERE WE GO!!!
I just hope Humpries doesn't get a concussion flipping the coin.
Hey folks. I am pumped for this game. I can't put it in written word. I have to ditch my family and go watch the game with a college friend because last week I scared my daughter. I know one thing, I am going to be too pumped to type anything during the game.
So I just wanted to stop in and wish everyone a great game. This is going to be fun and there is no reason to believe that the Bolts can't shock the world and make all those haters eat their shirts!
LETS GO BOLTS!!!!
Mike Ditka picked us to beat the Patriots on NFL Countdown just a few moments ago. He was the only one to pick us. They all picked the Packers to win.
Gotta love Ditka.
GO CHARGERS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have faith Bolt Brethren. Don't give up, and keep the faith.
We will win.
NFL Countdown ended. Switched to "Championship Chase" on CBS. What are all you other Boltheads watching to get pumped for the game?
Damn, they have Steve Sable from NFL films talking about us vs. the Patriots and they had two helmets in front of him int he studio. One Chargers, and one Patriots helmet.
The prob is they were using an old style helmet, not the new ones we've been wearing all year. You think with all the money they make off these games that they could at least get our helmet right.
Gen George Custard's ambush of the 7th Calvary, Picketts charge, San Juan Hill, the seige of Kay Sahn, Iwo Jima and finally the dropping of the atomic bomb.
All of those things have one thing in common and it just under two hours - destiny awaits the record books.
