No fumble is the only thing I can applaud for him. Hell he almost screwed the pooch on what could have been a TO on the backward pass that he never even turned on, very piss poor play on his part.

Really?...... Rivers threw the ball too early. You never want to throw the ball backwards.

Trust me I wasn't happy about his overall performance, but lets be positive that he got a couple first down and good yardage towards the end of the game.

I will be there in New Orleans and let you know first hand of I have given of on RM.

That quick back shoulder drop pass hasnt worked for us even back to Brees using it to LT. Its nothing new. Name a RB that has toted the ball for SD since 03 and you will be able to also find a game where they either couldnt catch a catchable ball or they werent even turned around when the ball was released. Id love to see this play, or rather this checkdown option either fixed or dropped from the playbook all together. Oh and FBs that can catch.

I agree and I would just tear that play out of the playbook. I remember those clunking off the back of Tomlinsons head or hitting him in the face mask many times.

Ugh I still harbor a deep hate for that play and having seen it so many times fail. We can jus hope that we never have to bring it up again, that would be cool.

The worst one I can recall is the one Hester left on the ground only to be picked up.

That was the same game where Goodman caught a pass, fell to the ground and laid the ball on the grass like the play was over.

I don't know how that happened and didn't know it until it posted like that. You're still wrong on the play though.

Yeah but their offense can expose our weak secondary.

PRIMETIME the next 2 weeks! A chance to change the national perception, or reinforce it.

Really, so you think it's a GOOD idea to throw a backwards pass.... and on your end of the field?

I said it was never a good idea, and you criticized my post. I said the timing of the throw was off. Since it's not a good idea to throw a backwards pass, it seems fairly obvious that Rivers should've thrown it front of Mathews so he could run to the ball.

If Rygina had turned around he may have caught the ball and why was he running backwards for in the first place????

As I said, the timing was off. If you throw the ball before the RB is ready, you usually have a bad result. They were fortunate the ball continued rolling out of bounds. Mathews may've taken a bad angle, but Rivers threw too soon. It was one of those plays doomed to fail.

He wasn't. He was lined up behind Rivers and was running to the outside. Rivers threw it too early as he was dropping back.

You might be missing the point here, Pure:
The game is called: "Find Something (Anything!) To Complain About, re. Ryan Mathews"

Plan A - Mock Mathews' injuries -- didn't get injured today, so proceed to 'Plan B'
Plan B - Whine about his fumble -- didn't fumble today, so proceed to 'Plan C'
Plan C - Gripe about his poor ypc -- averaged 4.4 today, so proceed to 'Plan D'
Plan D - Assume RM was at fault on a play, whether we know he was or not.

See, it's not really hard to complain about certain Chargers, if you're just willing to put some work into it! :)

Yeah the bullshit gets deep in here. I said benching the guy might save him only to hear the same tripe as today, hell even the commentators said Rygina screwed the pooch on that play. I take what those that know the game say above the wannabes in here 99% of the time.

You refuse to acknowledge anything positive about Mathews play....... you just dwell on any perceived mistakes. You're are not what I'd call an unbiased evaluator.

Dude the commentators said the same thing I did. AJ said the kid needs to improve or be gone. If it only was a once in a while deal with him it would be fine, his game right now sucks and I can admit to that. Hell even Philip has me worried but again I can admit it. If the truth hurts you that much then don't read it, his game sucks right now and I hope like hell he turns it around for the bolt's and not someone else. Get it???????

You hope he turns it around, but you want him stay stay on the bench?....... can't have it both ways. You've been calling him by derogatory nicknames for a long time now. You look at Mathews the way Corona regards Kaeding.

It's obvious that Mathews has struggled with turnovers, but the guy still has the most talent of all of our RBs. That was obvious when he played today. Battle is a banger, but he doesn't have Mathews' moves or speed. We need Mathews to figure it out and stay on the field.

Rygina has earned his criticism, he's a target for all the NFL teams to cough up the ball. I don't like it, Norv doesn't like it and neither does AJ. All the announcers talk it up and if that's fine by you, great. It's all fact and happens more often than Kaedings miscues and is a real problem, again if it's fine in your book then enjoy, I don't and won't.
