How so? AJ has to be held accountable as well. I do however agree that AJ will be back next year. Hopefully he can change he's tone due to he's YES man being soon to be fired.

I give AJ a hell of a lot of credit for building the team that has been competitive for the last 10 years. I remember all to well the dark days when we hoped that a draft pick would be anything other than a waiver listing.

However AJ has not maintained his level of production. This season I have began to think he has just been riding his Rivers trade success all these years. His picks have been terrible to OK at best, his attitude turns people and players off of the organization. His refusal to play in the free agent market has hurt the team, and now the Chargers are in a position where in a weak division we cant line up 11 deep and compete with the Broncos, Chiefs or Raiders.

Yes Norv has to take blame, his playing for FGs and lack of anything close to a killer instinct has rubbed off on these players.

That said, AJ has failed. I have no faith that he will not risk more first round picks on players like English, Davis, and other notable fails. AJ must go, and we need someone from a successful organization who has seen how a successful organizations runs and operates. We need someone who is not going to be acidic towards everyone be they media, players, or fans. The new man may not need to be a warm fuzzy type, but a professional type would be an improvement.

100% agree. Just because some one in the past had a great 1-3 years of building a team doesn't mean it's a given year after year. His draft choices have been, questionable. The scouting seems to be the real problem. The Chargers need a better "face" in the financial, NFL, and public relations worlds. Go shake some hands and kiss some babies!
Oh and don't be afraid to spend some cash for proven talent (free agents).

We really haven't signed a big money free agent thats been effective.. think its time to do so this off season.. A LOT of big names out there.. A LOT

and the Chargers need to make some moves..

Kevin Acee was on Darren Smith's shpw yesterday and said he believes AJ getting fired or not is 50/50 in his mind, but believes that Dean has already made up his mind, but won't say anything out of respect for AJ

Only way I support the idea of canning AJ is if you can find someone who could legitimately be seen as an upgrade. I'm definitely more of a "devil you know vs devil you don't know" especially when AJ has shown some real improvement in his drafts through 2010-2011. But if this Cowher/Steeler Exec combo has real legs or if there's some hot shot young GM available (it could even been Jimmy Raye) then I'd at least consider canning AJ.

But I'll bring up a point that Darren Smith made - make a GM move BEFORE you make a coach move. You need that extra time to give the GM the chance to get acquainted with who is on the team and to prepare before the draft.

I really wish that Mike Tomlin would tell Pittsburgh to piss off and come to SD. Obviously it's not gonna happen. But I love the way the dude handles that team, holds himself and everyone on the team accountable for their mistakes. That would be the best to ever happen to this team is to get a proven coach that handles himself in this way.

AJ has to go simple as. And v soon, like before seasons end. Norv is a lame duck who might just be allowed coach the team to seasons end. Tell the players they are playing for their futures, esp if a new GM gets brought in before seasons end.
