Make a freaking stop on third down. Create a turnover if our own. I'm not absolving RM of his mistakes but I'm not gonna blame him for our D letting the opposing offense march down the entire length of the field and put points either. It's not like he gave ATL a short field to work with. When bad things happen, I expect our players to suck it up and do their job. Not roll over and take it up the *** b/c they let the wind get knocked outta their sails.

      Wrong answer.
You were looking for something along the lines of "Moar Ingram" ;)

By Rule, these better Refs have already ruled the play dead from the whistle and in effect AFFECTED the outcome of a PRO NFL game. Never mind the Replay booth failure on a Gates catch that was half as game changeingly equal.

I cant say better Refs yet, but yay they can start to hire their Guys for their eventual replacements/supplants.

100% And if our Offense could make a freaking 1st on third down, could go a long way.

That is just an idiotic statement. The defense is responsible for failing to get off the field on third down and letting the Falcons go the length of the field for a TD. They had many opportunities to stop the Falcons on that drive, but they did not. I'm all for holding Mathews accountable for his mistakes, but we should not let the D off the hook.

It's an idiotic statement? How? Please do tell how the 96 yard drive (I don't know where you got 98 from, he fumbled on the 4) could have happened without Mathews fumbling the ball on the 4. Did the defense have many opportunities to stop the drive? Sure, but the drive wouldn't have had the opportunity to need to be stopped had Mathews put two hands on the ball as he was making contact instead of holding the ball away from his body like it was a decomposing head.

How about just a dishonest presentation of what the real issue is for you, Ikeman - that you have an ax to grind because you feel the team spent too much to draft Mathews. FWIW, so do I - but he's here & I hope for the best possible outcome.

I think that we spent too much on him from a team-building perspective. I think he's extremely talented, but that if he doesn't stop putting the rock on the ground that it won't matter. I just find claims that the 96 yd drive wasn't caused by Mathews to be ludicrous. Hitler's mother spreading her legs one night didn't cause the Holocaust either, but if that hadn't happened, it wouldn't have either.
