<font class="newstext">Before the Chargers-Titans game on Sept. 17, word got back to Phillips that Tennessee offensive coordinator Norm Chow was talking about Merriman in an interview when he said "the other guy" also was a pretty good player. The reference was to Phillips, the Chargers' "other" starting outside linebacker opposite Merriman.</font></blockquote>
