Maybe we need to get a scary guy kind of like Dave Stewart, except a hitting coach. Obviously these soft teachers haven't done a thing. Merv was a good coach but that was back when we had talented hitters, we've had hitting coaches leave here and go on to do well (Magadan sp?). Don't really know anyone off the top of my head, but we have a soft team we need to get some fire in that dugout.

He jacked up the price of everything almost every year. He told us that he would increase the Padres payroll if he got his new Stadium. Well the Padres continue to be in the lower portion of MLB for Player Payroll. Is he trying to devalue the team so his Ex wont get as much $$$$$$ in their Divorce settlement? We continue to pay major league prices for a AAA Team, and this junk has to stop! Attendance is way down, I wonder why? The Padres continue to raise prices faster than a Gas station can change its price! And all we get is another call up from Portland in a Farm System that has nothing left! I could careless if Alderson feels my pain, he is not the one who has to fork out $$$$$ to come watch this garbage! If he is trying to build something for the long haul are we looking at a World Series title in 2100?
As far as I see it, the wrong team might be moving out of San Diego! The padres also took up the space where a brand new football stadium would of fit perfect!!
Just giving you faithfuls more of a reason to call it quits this season...looks like giles is going to boston and maddux to L.A.

The paper wrote on its blog on Thursday that Giles had been claimed off waivers by Boston, possibly in an effort to block the Rays and Angels from acquiring the right fielder. If the two clubs do not reach an agreement, Giles will stay with San Diego. I called it quits a long time ago. Giles isn't going anywhere, though. (Not that I want him to stay, I'd rather get a return for him.) The Red Sox don't need Giles, they more than likely claimed him to cock block the Rays.
I think they are blockin the angels and some other team. It wont go through unless the pads get someone that can play now.
Why would the Padres want someone that can play now? They're not in the race this year, they're going to want a prospect or two. The Angels don't need Giles either. They're blocking that "other team" which would be the Rays.
I don't see why the Padres would turn down a good prospect or two for Maddux just because he won't be ready for 2 or 3 years. The entire point of trading veterans mid-season when you're out of the race is to get something in return for them before they go elsewhere in free agency. (Of course, you still get extra draft picks, so it depends on what's offered.) Sure, if what's offered is a guy that's going to be ready sooner I'm sure they'd prefer that to a younger prospect, but if the younger prospect is good I don't see why they'd turn it down. It's not like they're going to need Giles or Maddux for their playoff run this year.
