Houston Astros at San Diego Padres March 31, 2008 7:05 pm PT Petco Park Pitching Matchup: SD: RHP Jake Peavy (19-6, 2.54 ERA) The 2007 Cy Young Award winner gets the nod on Opening Day, pitching at PETCO Park where he actually endured five of his six losses last season. Peavy was 10-1 on the road and 9-5 at PETCO Park. HOU: RHP Roy Oswalt (14-7, 3.18 ERA) Oswalt gets to start the opener where he'll face, among other Padres, Peavy, who is a good friend and a hunting buddy. Fat chance Oswalt will serve anything up to Peavy, who is a good hitter for a pitcher. Tidbits So PETCO Park is a tough place to hit, huh? Try telling that to Astros outfielder Lance Berkman, who is a lifetime .394 hitter there. Of his 13 hits in San Diego, five have gone for doubles and four have gone for home runs. I missed baseball, glade its back, the Pads are gonna win 90 games this year......and then crap out in the playoffs because once again they failed to upgrade in key positions. Go figure Mark Prior is already on the 60 day DL, and Edmonds vagina is sore so he wont be available until the 21st.
:lol::lol: Tell us how you really feel!! I'm just happy I get to see my Pads on TV tonight! PS... I'd be very happy with 90 wins but, as always I just hope we're in the race come Oct.
I hate money ball.... Runners at first and third, one out and Giles at the plate... With Peavs dealing the way he is, a three run lead is huge... A squeeze in that situation would have been huge (either a saftey or suicide).... In money ball outs are almost as important as runs speaking offensively.... Hell I'd burn an out for a run all day. TBF
If Oswalt doesn't deflect that hit by Giles, thats a run-scoring single and the Pads're still batting.
Boy good call there. Giles couldn't hit Hillary right now. Fugging take one for the team and get an rbi!!! :icon_shrug:
