FOXBORO - With their game pants lying on the floor, jerseys sitting in a laundry bin and their bodies aching from a physical game, the Patriots [team stats] players left Gillette Stadium on Sunday.

With them went a gift from the coaches: DVDs, marked “San Diego defense,” “San Diego offense” or “San Diego special teams.”

For those guys, it marked the start of a new work week, one they’re thrilled to have.

But for the franchise as a whole, the DVD distribution was hardly the beginning of preparations for next Sunday’s divisional playoff against the Chargers. In certain ways, the legwork is already finished.

The staff has cut the San Diego tapes, identified tendencies and evaluated players. And yesterday and today, the coaches try to make sense of all that data before the players return tomorrow.

“We have personnel writeups on each player, we have several games broken down, games that we’ve watched and put in our terminology and nomenclature,” said coach Bill Belichick. “The formations, the defense, the blitz, down-and-distance and all that. So that’ll be looked at. Segmented and based on that, there’ll be other things we’ll want to do further study on. I’m sure some of those things will come up today and we’ll keep digging on those.”

The coach said that the process of preparing for the Chargers actually began on Christmas Eve, when the Patriots beat Jacksonville to lock up the AFC East and a berth in the playoffs. The team split up film of potential opponents among its advance scouts, who went to work for that week on all the possibilities.

No surprise here, they would've been foolish to do otherwise.

I'm sure the Chragers have been doin much the same thing.

Still, its very interesting the machinations of teams' scouting departments. I'm sure while players took time off, those behind the scene were hard at work gettin their **** together to give the Chargers the best chance to win.

Jes wish the national intelligence agencies worked as well.

How did that work for them against the Jets. I am sure Marty, Cam and Wade will hae the bolts ready.

One advantage we have is the Pats will never think the game is over. If they are up at the half, they will have a nagging in the back of their head telling them we have won in the second half after being down big before.

We got a secret weapon. I bet Brian Schottenheimer is already meeting with the coaching staff and giving them a full brain dump.

Bullishick must be wondering, "How do you plan against raw talent?" Yes, to a certaint extent, some credit can go to the system. Most of the credit goes to the mental and physical superiority of our players.

Every team in the league has done the same thing, how do we stop em', and still can't stop the run, the TE, or the receivers at the same time. Something has to give.:icon_huh:

Same with the Defence. Nobody has been able to stop the pass rush with our starting line. When they have, the DB's and safety's start gettin' theirs.:icon_huh:

Remember, we are 6 points from a perfect season.:icon_toast:

Did Merriman get suspended for Roids or was it because of a banned "substance"?

We know how to beat the Patriots. You kill Brady.

No matter how much you prepare, using dvds, pictures, etc etc, its how you play on gameday. No one can prepare for fumbles, ints, penalties.

Man you guys sure are arrogant. With three SB rings I'd think you would show a little more class (and respect).

Prison sex brah. Embrace the pain it's easier that way.

    You'll see.

We've been scouting NE for just as long...and probably more extensively since we didn't have to break to game plan for another opponent. Who else were we going to spend our time on? KC, who we've already played twice.....The Jets, who were the worst team in the playoffs in either league? Cam and Wade are about as ready as you can get.

without their previous coordinators (weis and crennel) plus the loss of mr clutch kicker, they are never the same superbowl team.

ask denver how they beat them last year.

They can scout, gameplan, and prepare themselves mentally to the point of absurdity. Fact of the matter is... when the ball is snapped on Sunday I don't think they will have enough horses to do what they want.

If Cam does his job properly, it will be mismatch heaven all over the field on Sunday. Speed kills and size matters. If VJ and Gates can get matched up on their linebackers, they'll have their way with 'em. And a healthy dose of LT/Turner should be able to wear them out on the edges of that defense.

I just believe that this is the most talented Chargers team ever assembled. The Patriots are very good. But I don't think they're the complete team that they were during those Superbowl runs.

Idiot is a good term for you. Do you have any clue as to the state of the NFL outside your lil dynasty wanabe team?

Do you realize that the young QB whom you are now pathetically trying to take pot shots at did many things no other QB has EVER done in this league before? This includes winning two games in a row after being down by 17 or more points.

Maybe in your stupidity, or arogance you can brush that off. But dont worry, you will have nearly 8 months to reflect on it after your team goes home to Foxbrough with their heads hung low. With ole Tom Baby pouting again for the national media and showing that he and that pathetic organization have no class, or sportsmanship...

Yeah, Idiot is a great term for you.

Here is something else, keep off the personal insults. We like to spar with out of towners, but leave the personal insults at home.

Ahhh, I would prefer not. He is acting very trollish, but just think, come sunday evening, he will be kicking his dog and thinking his world has come to an end. And he wont have the testicular fortitude to come here and give the winning team their props.

No worries. Beat them before. Hope your team is ready, you have not faced a team as complete as the Chargers. You will find respect in the flash or lightning...
