    Double parking.

I don't blame the cop, though.

Regardless of whether or not it was his intensions, "Write me up a ticket, i'll pay for it" does come off a bit as blatant disregard for the law.

All in all, not a real issue.

Today's article from the SD Union:

Peavy gets arrested on disorderly charge

By Brent Schrotenboer and Bill Center
    UNION-TRIBUNE STAFF WRITERS

    January 5, 2007
Padres pitcher Jake Peavy was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct early yesterday in Mobile, Ala., after not heeding instructions from an airport official to move his truck from where it was parked at Mobile Regional Airport. Peavy, on his way to the Dominican Republic as part of a Christian mission, parked near the front of the terminal and attempted to leave his vehicle unattended – a no-no where it was parked.
“With everything that goes on with civil aviation in the country, you just can't leave vehicles unattended and that sort of thing, so that's really what caused it to come about,” Mobile Airport Police Chief James Kincaid said.
Peavy, an Alabama native, was taken to Mobile County Metro Jail and released on a $350 bond.
Kincaid said words were exchanged and Peavy didn't cooperate, leading to his arrest.
Peavy could not be reached for comment last night. His wife, Katie, said Peavy had to travel to the airport alone because she had to get their children ready for school. After unloading, the plan was for Peavy to park his truck in the parking lot for his brother to pick up later.
Katie Peavy detailed what happened next, according to her husband:
Peavy was unloading the truck and pushing his bags through the gate when he was approached by a female security guard who told him to move the truck.
“Jake told me he said he'd move it as soon as he got his last bag into the terminal,” Katie Peavy said. “But the guard said a truck couldn't be left at the curb without a driver.”
The security guard said she would have to write him a ticket. Katie said Jake responded, “Write me a ticket” before saying “Call a real cop.”
So she did, and Peavy was taken to jail. Then he had to catch a later flight to the Dominican Republic.
“It was just him not cooperating with the officer who was really just trying to help him,” Kincaid said. “(Peavy) was offered some alternatives to help him with the situation, and he declined.”

Uh, boy, didnt make points there... In the perspective of other things athletes have been arrested and charged for, this is quite small in the scheme of things. I just hope it STAYS that way with Jake. I'm not going to whip out the pic of him chugging Jager at a charity event. I like Jake.

Barney Fife was a better cop, plus they only gave him one bullet.
