I was hoping they traded Peavy for Ron Villone and Marc Newfield.

Well, I was right that Padres fans are on suicide watch, but I was wrong about what they'd be on it for.

**** that, I don't care how many stupid moves they make I'm too addicted to them to want to see them folded.

I tried leaving when they had the fire sale in the early 90s and just couldn't do it. :icon_sad:

And the Padres have taken 6 of 7 from the Reds this year. :icon_shrug:

One ace for a potential #2, a potential #4, a reliever and a talented question mark

If Poreda and Richard can stay in the rotation this might just be a huge deal for us
    1: Young
    2. Latos
    3. Poreda
    4. Richard
    5. Correria/Stauffer/Baek?/Gallegher

Lot of talented players in that mix

    That's a lot of ifs

I am pretty excited about Latos, though and Chris Young doesn't get enough love from Padres fans.

It still doesn't = Jake Peavy in the rotation. CY ISN'T a #1. Never has been, never will be. I like what little I've seen out of Latos.
    I'm still not impressed!

    Latos has #1 potential

Whether or not he lives up to it is the question.

The last time the Padres swept the Reds it was the start of a 12 game win streak.

Now they've won 5 in a row, which started with 3 in a row against the Reds.

so, how are we judging the trade. I think we did pretty good even if win/loss records don't reflect it. Peavy hasn't been healthy since we traded him. And isn't getting any younger. However all the guys listed above are low to mid 20s.

As an individual statistic, W/L is vastly overrated.

Cliff Lee gave up 7 ERs to the Padres on Friday and got the W.

Meanwhile, Wade LeBlanc only gave up 1 to the Dodgers in the first game of the home series against them and got an L.

W/L relies heavily on team efforts. I don't get why the pitcher gets so much credit for it.
