Just a simple poll for my curiousity.

I was ticketed for throwing the football while tailgating at Sundays game. Officers believe over 50% of people know you cant throw any object in Qualcom's Parking lot?

    Did you know?!?!

They normally don't start enforcing it until the parking lot starts getting filled up .. Also, they normally look the other way if kids are throwing the football has been my experience.

To be honest though, they usually 1st give a warning and then if they catch you doing it again, that is when they give the ticket. I'm guessing you didn't get a warning since you are asking for a poll.

    Here is the policy. http://www.sandiego.gov/qualcomm/directions/parkingpolicy.shtml

Wow... I had no idea. I've seen so many people doing it I never would have guessed. Hope the ticket wasn't too expensive?

It's also the fault of the drunken Fouts wannabes who fling a 50 yarder and it lands on some poor season ticket holder's BMW or Lexus, putting a nice dent with football seams on the hood of their precious automobile. Or the broken windshields... The other scenario might be when someone throws long, the receiver isn't looking forward and gets tackled by a Nissan Sentra driving through the lot. It's a public safety thing. It's been an enforceable law for several years, just like the one about not drinking from glass containers, such as beer bottles. John Law loves handing out tix for that one. I think they even made one of our guys pour out the liquor from the bottle onto the street. Now that should be illegal!

What about wagon pulling? Or wearing your shorts too short? Our resident lawyer wearing the daisy dukes would be spending the weekend in the hoosegow if they started enforcing that.

Yea, An officer called me today over my complaint and said that Bean Bag toss and Beer Pong are also not allowed.

I was not warned and that should be protocol but sometimes people get unlucky!

I know that beer pong leads to violence, saw it firsthand at one of our tailgates last season, I think...

Im assuming this is leauge wide stadium parking lot policy. Arrowhead is ALWAYS full of ppl in the lot throwing footballs. Also last game I was at my friend was drinking out of bottles. Its deffinatly pick and choose on enforcement clearly.

It's been the rule for at least 20 years, but they don't always enforce it. I've never been ticketed, just told to stop.

I do not think it is league policy, just a local police ordinance here in San Diego. But what do I know, I'm not a lawyer. Get some insight from the barrister Anteater, he's the lawyer...

I didn't know until my first Chargers game a few years back. My brother and I forgot our football so we bought one at a gift stand and started throwing it around. A few minutes later one of them bastard cops told us to stop. I didn't know you could get ticketed though.

What's the finefor that? My girlfriend got a ticket for having a corona bottle a few years back. she fought it and was placed on bottle probation for a year. that when they first started to enforce it. it was supposed to be $150 or around there.

The ban on throwing footballs (...or anything else) in the parking lot has been around for a long time...apparently alcohol and thrown objects are a bad combination in a crowded parking lot. Typically people just stash the football until the police cruiser moves off and then its back to a hail mary pass into someone's bean dip. Good times!

Blame it on the drunk idiots who start fights because they get hit with a ball. That is why the rule was put into place

If people could just hold their booze and stop using "I was just drunk" as an excuse to act like a$$holes, there wouldn't be any need for 95% of these BS laws in the first place.

Especially the alcohol ban on the beach. I think I have only been to the beach 1-2 times since that ban got put into place
