"Pro Bowl running back" on the trading block

Posted by Mike Florio on April 10, 2010 3:44 PM ET
Charles Robinson of Yahoo! Sports reports that an unnamed (for now) Pro Bowl running back is on the trading block.

Robinson (via Twitter) says that he knows the name of the tailback and the teams involved. He says he'll reveal the player soon, that it won't be shocking, and that it's not Cowboys tailback Marion Barber.

In 2009, the Pro Bowl running backs were Chris Johnson, Maurice Jones-Drew, Ray Rice, Adrian Peterson, DeAngelo Williams, and Frank Gore.

In 2008, they were Thomas Jones, Johnson, Ronnie Brown, Marshawn Lynch, Peterson, Clinton Portis, and Michael Turner.

In 2007, they were LaDainian Tomlinson, Joseph Addai, Fred Taylor, Willie Parker,Willis McGahee, Peterson, Barber, and Brian Westbrook.

We're guessing that it's Lynch, and possibly McGahee.

Exactly. I would give a 5th round pick for one of them. That way we will not have to draft two RB's this year. This could hold us over until next years draft.

I thought I'd read that willie parker was on the trading block a while ago. We know lynch has been on the trading block cause h'es got "problems". But it also could be portis or mcgeehe. I didn't know sproles wasn't a pro bowler yet. He could run circles around most of these guys.

Parker was a free agent and was recently signed by the Redskins.

We should try to trade for Gore, look what he did in his only year under norv!
Hes the perfect bulldozer for this offense

But more realistic, why couldnt they mean Sproles? I mean he a pro bowler right? and i doubt we will ever get a long term contract done with him, so why not try to get something for him while we can?

Tate will be Gore. This is even more why I know the Bolts are taking Tate @ 40.

I am PRETTY damn sure it's Lynch.

Gore is the reason so many people don't like drafting RB's early. He's a 5'9 power back, who runs in the mid 4.6's, and I think I remember he scored a 7 on his wonderlic.

The guy is short slow and stupid...yet he's a 2X pro bowler. I'd agree we should wait, except Fank Gores are so few and far between.

You can find gems drafted late at all positions.

By this logic many people should dislike drafting anyone early.

Tate is a second tier back. If they haven't already taken Matthews and drafted a NT instead, they take Dwyer over Tate.

I'll bet you as much as you want that we do not take Dwyer. NOT a chance...

It's Tate or Best in the early rounds otherwise we are waiting till the 5th and grabbing Scott (not gonna happen though)

    Random thought

What if it isn't Lynch but a guy who is a running back but went to the pro bowl as something else

    say Darren Sproles?

I know Lynch has been mostly a dumbass so far in his career, but if he could get his head straight i think he could be a great rb (big if i know). Having said that i would have no problem with us trading our 5th for him. Then trade sproles to SF for their 2nd (#49) and do something like this in the draft.

#28- Dan Williams / MT. Cody
    #40- Jahvid Best
#49- Tyson Alualu / Devin McCourty / Rodger Saffold

Didn't Parker sign with Philly in the last couple weeks? I wouldn't want him anyways. He has more injury issues than LT had

As long as we are getting a 2nd rounder for him, I would have no issue with that

Ronnie Brown could be available in trade, too

Posted by Mike Florio on April 11, 2010 5:44 PM ET
On Saturday, Charles Robinson of Yahoo! Sports said that a Pro Bowl running back is on the block, and that he could soon be traded. Conventional wisdom point to Bills running back Marshawn Lynch, even though the NFL eventually will run out of cold turkey and lettuce, wilted or otherwise.

Earlier today, Adam Schefter of ESPN threw another name into the mix -- Dolphins running back Ronnie Brown.

Though Brown has been the wizard of the Wildcat in Miami, the Dolphins supposedly have dangled him from time to time over the past year or so.

Coincidentally (or otherwise), Brown's replica jersey can be had at the team's online Pro Shop for only $30.00.

Instead of the 49ers acquiring Spiller who's a rookie, why not a first rounder outright for Sproles

I would love one, but I am realistic enough to know that he isn't worth a 1st and a team would be dumb and/or desperate to pay that much for Sproles. If it happens, AWESOME. I just don't see it happening

I wouldnt want McGahee and AJ wont trade for Lynch. Even if we got one of them, AJ would still draft a RB imo.
