Good read, but I disagree that this week is the turning point. We will shred the 1-5 Browns because they can't pass the ball...end of story. Then Norv will get on the podium and say "see, we have grit, we showed toughness, we can deal with adversity" blahdy fu*kin blah. The turning point will be when we get past our next couple 1-5, 2-4, 1-6 opponents and play the Broncos, Ravens, Bengals and Steelers in 4 strait weeks.
Chargers are playing three straight games where their opponents combine for a record of 4-15.. so if we can't handle the next 3 games we'll be in trouble..
I'm not sure about that; Cleveland is growing and what they lack in talent they make up for in confidence they're getting better. Plus their DL and DBs are pretty decent. That stretch you describe will be very difficult to beat; not because we don't have the talent they do but because I think those teams are mentally tough enough to handle what the Bolts throw at them and then punch back. And until the team shows it can fight in the second half with tenacity, this remains a first half team with a glass jaw....a very very bad thing to be especially against the opponents we have upcoming
All we're going to do in the next three weeks is push our draft position back while still not having enough Ws to get into the postseason, or have the kind of team needed to win in the postseason.
For as bad as some of the teams upcoming on the Chargers schedule, I think the Chargers are of the same cloth. The Chargers are certainly not a team that should be feared or respected by any other team in the NFL and I don't think that they are. I think the Browns, Chiefs and Bucs are all eyeing their game with the Chargers as one that they can win...and why wouldn't they? They watch the games too and know how deficient the Chargers are on both sides of the ball and then factor in that the Chargers have a knack for turning the ball over and not being defensively sound, the Charger opponents essentially just need to show up and not screw up to essentially beat this version of the San Diego Chargers.
Interesting read to be sure. I think that summed up the feelings a lot of us around here have and did so pretty well. We love our team no matter how much they exasperate us. As to the upcoming schedule cited in a couple of other posts, we are in NO position to assume that the Chargers will beat the Browns, Chiefs or Bucs based on what has happened the last two weeks (hell, a rematch with the Titans would not be 38-10 either). IF the Chargers win the next 3, they look good going into a semi-bye (10 days Thursday to following Sunday) before Denver -- not a bad place to be at 6-3. I'd even *reluctantly* accept 5-4 if the loss is to the Bucs (a non-conference). Anything less is absolute failure in my book. In the end, I hope for the best, but expect and fear the worst.
Richardson is doubtful as well. Figures, cuz he's on my fantasy team and MJD is hurt and Rice is on a bye. I'm screwed.
The only thing we do somewhat well is stop the run, I hope he does play if it takes the ball out of Weedens hands a couple more times. Yes, our CBs are that bad.
Totally agree, although it won't make look any more better. It will set them up 3 games. This will be the turning point. @OP Not enough hate....
The only way that this week will be the turning point is if we lose, and the team completely gives up on the Norv, allowing us to coast to 3-13 and draft 1st overall.
Did you mean to say "in 4 Dire Straits weeks" Mati ??? Are they still doing the rounds like most 70's/80's has-beens by the way ????
The Bears are #1 with 71 ypg the Chargers are #2 with 71.2 ypg. But this is like the Chargers defense of the late 90's where teams don't even bother trying to run when they can pass...Chargers defense ranked 25th in pass defense.
