This recent loss had me thinking, with the destruction that is Norvitis. Are we to return to obscurity? You know all those losing seasons that give nightmares? Is 17 the new 16?
We're already there. There real question is does Dean have the stones to do what needs to be done to prevent the ship for sinking to the bottom? So far he's proven he doesn't.
We have already returned to obscurity. The road was paved the day Norv was announced as the new head coach. But - 17 will never be the new 16.
I think it's a dip in the road, there's too many good components of this team (young defense, some good skill players like Green, Alexander, Brown (still have faith)) and I think Rivers will be better with a full upgrade to the offensive line. We don't improve the OL, we won't make any improvements and 17 doesn't become 16, he becomes 12/14 at the end of his fine career here
We have way too many good football players on both sides of the ball. Its just the way the pieces are put together and used. Tommy Prothro had everything in place but he did not know what he had. Don Coryell came in here and with those very same players, Air Coryell took off! Hang in there, with the right people in place this team can be a huge force to be reckoned with!
If Phil can return to 2010 form, through his own ability or improvement of the pieces around him, then we will have a shot and be a team with a chance in every game. If he doesn't improve dramatically, it will be 2015 and a new QB before we even sniff the playoffs.
I think it's idiotic to even suggest that Rivers is at the same level as he who should not be named, he has done too much for this team for some posters to insult him like that, he's struggling sure, but a big part of that is the bad oline, give him protection and he'll be fine, good enough to win with
Trust me. Nobody outside of San Diego (and out of town Chargers fans) gives a crap about the Chargers. And they haven't for quite a while. Teams especially do not fear playing the Chargers. And they haven't for quite a while. Yeah, there were some good teams with talent. But it's not like this has been a decade of dominance (outside of the AFC West), even with the success of multiple double digit win seasons. And unless Spanos decides that he really wants to build a lasting football legacy (and not a sideshow - as is the case now), then this organization will remain irrelevant to everyone but us. Allowing the "chill pill" article showed us all we need to know. Pathetic. Don't be surprised if he shiits the bed on his next move.
This is more of what you might be referring to, this team is more interested in your entertainment dollar like these guys:
