On Monday, Head Coach Marty Schottenheimer was asked what he felt was the biggest key to his team ending their current six-game losing streak at Denver. “It’s virtually come down to ball security,” Schottenheimer said. “That always becomes particularly important when you go into that environment.” Fortunately for the Chargers, that’s something that their offense, particularly their young quarterback, has thrived on this season. Only two quarterbacks in the NFL have thrown fewer interceptions than Philip Rivers’ three. He has now gone three straight games (15 quarters) and thrown 122 consecutive passes without tossing a pick, the longest active streak in the NFL. “He’s young but he makes so many smart decisions that you don’t expect a young guy to make,” running back LaDainian Tomlinson said. “Every week he continues to really amaze us.
