Players on the bubble Gbaja-Biamila, Akbar ,Godfrey, Randall , Wilhelm, Matt , Polk, Carlos and Steve Foley who isn't on the roster at this time is a major question mark. The Chargers 3-4 is dependent on LB to make it go so expect to see at least couple in the 2007 draft. Jamal Williams is playing the best he has ever played yet he is on the wrong side of 30 , his back up Bingham has failed to impress in fact the Chargers prefer to slide their DE into the middle over Bingham so expect to see a NT type in this draft. The Chargers have several issues at safety with Jue , Hart and kiel all in a fight for a job. The Dime CB is another situation that will get a long look. The Chargers may finally draft another wr if the right one is on the board. The wr position isn't the area of need that several other positions are but it sure gets a lot of play on this board and the draft sites. FB /TE may also be a position that the Chargers take however if they do look for that player to be a second day selection. Ryan Krause and Pinock both are bubble players and the Bolts now feature the FB more like a H- Back in this offense. Last but not least I think the Chargers will look at a OC not so much as to replace Hardwick but rather as smart depth. Hardwick has had some back concerns and David Binn our long snapper is growing long of tooth so if the Bolts see a player who could do both ......
Hmm I think Robinson Osgood Binn and Hart will still be around but other than that I agree with the rest.
osgood gone? highly doubt it. especially with the importance of special teams to a marty team. he just signed an extension this offseason did he not? bingham aint going no where. he can play all three positions on the line and he is the only non-starter who can legitimately fill in across the board like that. marty is constantly praising his improvement.
i can see why you're pissed about the KC game, but goff has been solid. stats dont do the man justice. btw, the chiefs have a good front (johnson, bell)
It's not one game. Goff can pull within the tackle box, and seal block. That's it. His drive blocking sucks, and if he hits 25% of his second level blocks that would be a record for him. We need a faster, more athletic, and stronger guard. Goff is a journeyman.
If we draft players who share the same positions as these players and if the Rookies make the squad tell me who you think we would cut in their place? There are always options but right now Osgood and Camarillo are the bottom feeders at WR so if we draft a WR one of them will be gone. On the DL front Bingham , McKinney , and Robinson are at the low end of the peaking order and based on PT this season Robinson has seen a lot more action than Bingham and he will cost much less money. Bottom line if Williams were to miss a few games I am not sold on Bingham being the man and I bet Smith isn't either as for as Marty he is always singing all the players a ear full what else would you expect. McKinney has not seen any real time this season however he was a player who wasn't projected at the start of TC to make the team yet based on TC he won a job. McKinney build is better suited than Bingham for the NT position and in TC he was quicker off the ball and played with better leverage. Now if the Bolts draft a NT type and if he makes the roster then color one of those three gone.
If the Bolts take a OG in the top 2 rounds then his job could be in jeopardy along with Withrow. For me I think that Marty would prefer to keep Goff over Withrow even if the top pick was a super star guard that won the starting position. Goff is a good teacher and with his experience he could step right in if we suffered a injury. I don't see Withrow on the same level with Goff in either situation.
i watched mckinney, alvin smith, chase page...all those guys during camp and bingham is far and away better than those guys. robinson is a DE and both our starting DEs have gone down...thus robinson/cesaire is getting playing time. bingham is our backup Nose Tackle and plays behind williams. williams hasnt missed significant time and actually binghom plays a ton in practice because they give williams tons of rest during the week. ryan has also show the ability to play DE and has done so in games (i think it was denver) which is impressive considering he is oversized for DE.
I think Osgood is holding up a spot on the roster. We need someone here that can "catch" the ball and not someone who is a decent ST player but with stonehands.
