*RUMOR* How will Merriman's pending suspension change our draft plans?

This is based completely on the rumors flying around that I, for one, happen to believe. In case you are new, the rumor is that Shawne Merriman has tested positive for a banned substance again. The NFL is just dotting their "I's" and crossing their "T's" before suspending this ******* for a year.

This rumor is not going away; if anything, it's growing legs. Flame away. I just want thoughts on how you think this would (will) change our draft strategy. Do you still resign the guy at what it would cost to resign him?

If it turns out to be wrong, I'm an idiot and feel free to tell me so every time you see me. I hope I am wrong. But as I stated, I really don't think that I am...

Right attitude. The problem is that this is suspiciously timed to have been detected roughly at the same time his car was reported stolen and burned. IF this is true, it will change draft plans substantively.

So the nfl will dump on the chargers for cooper using cough medicine. And now will crucify merriman for peeing incorrectly. This is bullsheet. The nfl knows the chargers can win it all now and are dumping these lame charges on them to hurt the chargers.

And the nfl trys as hard as it can to try and sweep under the rug the pats cheating big time to win those super bowls. Truly bullsheet what is going on. The nfl is looking more biased all the time. :yes:

I hope it's not true, but if he gets busted for Roids again there's no defense to that. I gave him the benefit of the doubt the first time, but I won't the 2nd time.

There is no reason merriman would take any illegal drugs unless it was planted on him. This is total bullsheet.

We'll take a pass rusher for sure, but I don't think that that position is as big a priority as others on the defense. NT, CB, and a S or ILB to direct the defense are all more important IMO.

This rumor first appeared on the Chargers.com message boards. And it was told by someone who was told by someone else who heard it from some Charger players.

Not saying it can't be true. But it reeks of cow manure as originally told.
