I didn't need to read this on a monday and Shawne better not have tested positive again.
I remember that, and I was one of the folks who defended the guy.
Personally, part of the reason I read message boards is because they often run ahead of the new agencies when it comes to Charger news. Many future Charger headlines first appeared on the SDUT as "rumors" back in the day. I don't want ANYONE dissuaded from posting any tidbit of Charger news they hear or witness on the boards. Hell, that's what the intarwebz are for.
I, for one, welcome rumors. So some are wrong, some are right. It's up to you to not get overwrought. If you want confirmation, sit and wait for it. If not true, good deal. If so... well, good thing we've got AJ. :icon_party:
The original Merriman Roids rumor started on th UT weeks before the story broke. He was flamed, etc etc. Im not really sure what to think here, but it can happen. I guess i just have to wait patiently and hope to ChargerGod its not true.
I don't mind rumors but Id like some source material and lets face it there's been less for this rumor then there was, as leisure described, for that foley rumor
This was posted on Friday or Saturday.
All I can say at this point is "no news is good news!!!"
im friends with jay cutler he told me Rivers will be suspended for a banned substance that he used to play in the Patriots game while Jay was at home drinking beer
I think this person got confused. He probably thought he heard Merriman's name when the name he actaually heard was Odell Thurman of the Bengals and him being reinstated.
That's quite a mistake. :icon_huh:
If Steve Foley looked you straight in the eyes at 3 am while looking drunk and stepping towards you while reaching in his pocket, you would shoot him too
More likely it was a rumor that started about Coop that morphed into a rumor about Merriman.
That was the day I joined sport forums. And when someone said we would trade for Volek WEEKS before it happened.
(I'm not even gonna post what I'm thinking right now)
Wouldn't be about a banana in his pocket, would it?
Coop gets popped, now Merriman is a suspect then we go to Foley. Sounds good to me. :icon_shrug::icon_huh:
But not in the back, as all his wounds were from behind.
Hopefully it is not true.:icon_huh:
Thanks for finding this.
Everybody knows you are suppose to get your testicle hanging done before 1:00AM. Sheesh, this guy is out there. No wonder he got arrested.
No, just got busted with a string tied around my balls, some meth in my pocket, and a dildo in my shoe.
Sounds like your average 4AM stroll thru Central Park to me. :icon_eek:
So rumors about Foley, Volek and Merriman (the first time) turned out to be true. So did the rumor that Philip Rivers had torn his ACL in the divisional playoff game.
Can anyone recall any *BIG* rumors that turned out to be false?
Rumors generated from inside the team are one thing, but stuff out of the league office are another. Those tidbits aren't likely to appear in a local forum. There is absolutely no buzz about this anywhere but on some privately run team blogs like this one. There are a number of political blogs that I frequent out there in blogtopia, run by people who are serious football fans and who popped open stuff about Valeria Plame, Sibel Edmonds, Rummy and Cardinal Karl that scooped the media and papers and proved to be quite accurate. They also were ahead of the curve on Vick and Pac Man. There isn't even a whisper about us, other than Cooper.
Out of curiosity, did anyone see any buzz about Cooper (other than in local fan forums and blogs) before the official word came out? For instance, did PFT publish anything?
Funny that you mention the Rivers ACL, but the first forum that I heard that on was a gambling forum (theRX.com).
Like leisure said, the NFL isn't going to break this story in the days leading up to the draft. This is one of their weeks to shine in the publics eye. I wouldn't be surprised to see this hit headlines in May, or even later. They are in no hurry to suspend a marquee player for a year.
If there is an appeals process, my guess is that they are doing it behind closed doors.
Of course, it's all just speculation at this point because the people involved are keeping this thing tighter than a frogs ***.
I've only skimmed through this post a little bit so can anyone tell me if this is still a rumor or not? thanks
FFLW reports: "FFLW is reporting that the Packers are rumored to be the likely landing spot for Chargers RB Michael Turner. Strong sources are saying that the deal will include the first round pick for 2008."
