I disagree. I don't think it is a FACT that there is no one else that would be better.

Okay, well I'm guessing you've seen a lot less running backs than I have,
so if you see "lackluster" well...you see what you see.
Health is rare at the RB position, but I hope RM can have enough of it
that more casual fans like yourself will get to see what I see...

then who would be available that is better?

By the way, I wanted Dan Williams (NT) and hated the Matthews pick

I don't want to get into a hypothetical this guy would be better than this other guy because that is all it would become... I am simply stating that it isn't a FACT that there wouldn't be anyone better as you so definitively put it.

Go down the list of FA's. Who would be better that would make cutting a guy after 3 seasons, 2 of which were behind the worst line in the NFL. I will say it again, I wouldn't be againts going to get a guy like Steven Jackson or something like that, but it would be a guy that would be in addition to Matthews, not to replace him. There isn't a guy available in free agency or in the middle of the draft, that would immediately be a 25-30 carry a game guy that would warrant cutting Matthews, and that is a fact

Keep him around for two more years....finish out his contract...fine...and then if and when he starts living up to expectations, then we'll cut his azz.......ya know., like Sprolzy and Tolbert.....it's the cheap-azz Deano way. ;)

I hope that the above example was more the A.J. way and that way now gone with him. Time will tell.

I've never said that we should cut him. I've merely stated that he hasn't been, and will likely never be, a featureback in the NFL.

No, but others have and those are the people that my original comments were directed at. I would never tell anyone that they shouldn't be critical of him, my argument has been to cut him is an asinine idea

You do realize that the NFL has both a salary cap and a floor, and the Chargers have been much closer to the cap every year than they have ever been near the floor. Letting those guys was not a cheap thing, it was an issue of AJ deciding they weren't worth the money. This isn't baseball where the owners can be "cheap" regarding the team payroll. Yes he can be cheap when it comes to coaches, training staffs, and facilities, but not on payroll
