Yeah......they had an Olympic-sized pool there. My mother and I used to go to Belmont Park a lot when I was young---it was her old stomping grounds when SHE was young, and we made some great memories there (she threw up after we got off the roller coaster, and I didn't LOL).
So, my earliest memories growing up in Logan Heights ( I unnerstan y'all call it Barrio Logan now :icon_eek: :icon_sad: ) are the smell of fresh baked bread from the Wonder Bread bakery on 28th St, and of the Mexican ladies making fresh tortillas; that slapping sound of their hands as they formed the tortillas. There was a playground across the street from where we lived that was part of Luther Burbank Elementary School; it was here that I first learned I was a lousy baseball player :icon_eek:
I remember hearing about it! Wasn't it like a whole neighborhood of little people with little houses and stuff????
Legend has it................ When the Munckins from the Wizard of OZ finished the Movie, several of them moved down to San Diego, and they had some houses built up on Mt. Soledad. These houses were built for Midgets! 4 Foot High Doors and all. There are a couple of them left.
 I think it was on KOGO, but that was before Channels 7/39 switched with Channel 10. So Channel 10 was NBC, and 7/39 was ABC.
Hell yeah, onea the original Little Rascals, IIRC!! Usedta get off the train every afternoon at track #9!! Usedta push Knoxage Water!! Good onya, Walt!! :icon_toast:
Yes and Yes.....I was a part of the original jackasses and we went to the clam quite to do cliff jumping. Of courrse we did flips and twists with a mini tramp to gain as much height as we could. I belonged to the La Jolla YMCA gymanastic club during that time. My gymnastic coach (Val Darrow) jumped from deadman cliff a couple times. We would also jumped at a cliff in Point Loma called the wedge quite often. I was a regular at the swinging rings at Belmont park doing multiple dismounts and gymnastic in that area. "Munchkinville" was regular cruise for my friends and I.
I learned to surf on the north side of Scripps Pier All of my kids learned to surf, boogyboard, and/or skim board at La Jolla shores
