With all of LT's hate lately and all his *****in does anyone think we should let ryan Matttews wear number 21? If not what number do you like on Mattews, future Charger great? I like #33 personally!
Welcome to the Matthews era in SD!!

I hope this #21 will be as good as our last one!:icon_banana::icon_banana::icon_banana::abq1:

No way. LT did far too much for us with 21 and it should be unofficially retired until it can be officially retired. He'll play #forty-something I believe.

No...He should wear #4 to remind us that we gave up 3 picks and a player to get him.

So, given the time would you be happy seeing someone wear Dan Fouts' number a year after he left the Chargers?

Do you recall what Fouts' exit was like? Were you a Chargers fan then?

Lets just say it made LT's rants look tame. So in the light of the time that has passed you dont want anyone else to wear his number, but you want someone to wear LT's....

Me thinks perhaps you should learn the teams history, might change your perspective.

    Might not... DKDC.

First, we should see what #'s are available.

    33, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40, 42, 45, 47, 48, 49

I'm perfectly ok with #21 never being available again.

Ok I retract the statement. You're right. I'm just biased because some of my family friends are friends with Dan Fouts and also how long has passed... and that he's on good terms now. This thread should be changed to what # should Matthews wear?

33 seems like it fits his body and running style well. IDK why.

I agree with both of these, they are the two I narrowed it down to. I decided on 37 because I don't have many memories of Hank Bauer, Ronnie Harmon still looks like 33 to me.

Different situations. The Bolts were on a downward spiral and with new ownership when Fouts retired. LaDainian who was given everything and was arguably more loved than Fouts blamed everyone but himself. He then became Complainian Tomlinson.

Makes sense. Not that it matter but Michael turner wore 33 too. 37 is pretty unique.

I gotta question guys. What is ryan Matthews ethnic background?

Is he half black half white. Half black half hispanic? Half hispanic half white? Is he just white with really tan skin? Is he black?

I can't tell and he has really interesting features so I was just wondering.

Were he white, he wouldn't be a runningback in the NFL haha. I think he looks black but just lighter.

    I vote 16!

16 has always been my number, and it currently has the stink upon it. I would love for someone to resurrect it.

It's true! I remember this Canadian kid Jesse Lumsden, everyone was saying he'd be in the NFL cuz he dominated college up here. Not only did he not get drafted, he went to the CFL and has been injury raped his entire career.

    No way.

LT did a lot for us. He's pissed things didn't work out and that's why he's been running his mouth - but we should be the bigger man (bigger men?) and retire his number like he deserves.
