What are they? Why? This one 'Goodbye yellow brick road' was one of first favs that I actually learned the lyrics to. In fact, this is the show where it caught my attention..
The "why" is the same for all of em, I heard them on the radio/MTV a lot. Some of these songs I like, some I don't really like a lot, but I'll listen to them all mainly because of the thread title. (I'll add more later)
I remember staying up late at night and seeing these videos on a show called "Hollywood Heatbeat." It was quite a treat to be able to stay up so late at age 10-11. And seeing this on a show called "Fridays." Oh... and afterwards, hearing them on the radio and digging them.
I heard this song at age 12 and had to have this album. When I bought it, I played it to the point where the grooves were worn out!!!
This band scared the crap out of me. I was like 14 and looking through metal imports. This was in the early 80's. I saw this album cover that looked like a bible. The title was "At Wat With Satan" and it had an upside down cross on it. I honestly was afraid that I would burn in Hell if I listened to this band... there for, I couldn't resist buying the album!!!
Sheesh, you guys are KIDS!! When I think of 'childhood' songs, we're talking Van Morrison and "Brown-Eyed Girl" or Procol Harem's "Whiter Shade of Pale"..........:icon_eek:
I can remember going to work at the sheriffs office when I was in high school, and just cranking this one.
I remember the first time I heard this song. My sister got a record player for Christmas. It was a box type record player where you open up the lid to get at the turntable and the speaker was in the front... The first 45 she put on it was this song.
Heard a song on the way home from work that I haven't heard since I was a kid. Most of the songs for me in here are soft pop, most of which I wouldn't give a second listen to today. I didn't start getting into hard rock/metal until I grew up. I mainly just listened to the radio stations when I was a child.
I was actually in High School - Wound up marrying the girl next door some years later - we are still together today.
