Suppan vs. Wells Tonight. Should be a tough series, hopefully the cards will end there losing streak. (sorry rexy)
Keep us updated... I'm getting sporadic net updates and know we're in the bottom of the eighth...with a one run lead...
I think the Magic Number is 6!! At any rate, the Pads are up a full 2 games in the West on the foogin dodgers!!
The Phillies lostta the 'Stros, so the foogin dodgers I think are tied for the Wild Card!! But I don't give a **** about the Wild Card, the Pads are gonna win the West out right!! Go Pads!!
:icon_mrgreen: Why do you think I've been followin' those Phillies? They keep those Duds looking over their shoulders...:icon_wink: :icon_banana:
I'm trying to do the math... blonde and all..:icon_mrgreen: Both teams have six games left... Pads are up by two... If the Duds win all six... yeah, you're right, we'd have to win 4 to tie them and 5 to beat them.... That is if they win all six games....
That dog ain't gonna hunt, Darlin!! Remember, any combination of Pads wins/foogin dodger losses equalling 5 will give the West to the Pads!! On any day the Pads win, and the foogin dodgers lose, that 2 games taken away from the 5 that is right now.
Yeah...lets say the Pads win again tomorrow and the foogin dodgers lose. That'll make the Magic Number 3!!
Pitching Matchup for Game Two: SD: RHP Woody Williams (10-5, 3.53 ERA) Williams has faced the Cardinals only twice in his career, losing both decisions while surrendering eight earned runs in 12 innings. STL: RHP Chris Carpenter (15-7, 2.93 ERA) Carpenter has 19 quality starts in 31 outings and averages 7.5 strikeouts per nine innings. Scouting Report: In the midst of his best since season 2003 when he was 18-9 for the Cardinals, Williams continued to deliver under pressure against the Diamondbacks on Thursday night. The veteran right-hander used his repertoire and smarts to keep Arizona scoreless until the sixth, when an error made the Diamondbacks' one run unearned. Williams, yielding five hits and one walk while striking out three, made the big pitches when he needed them, including a biting curveball that produced a key double play. His calling card remains a fastball that picks corners and moves up and down in the zone. Carpenter and the Cards are hoping this is the right-hander's last start of the regular season. His turn would come up again on Sunday, but if St. Louis clinches the division by then, he is expected to skip that start. So in his last home start, Carpenter will have one more shot at bolstering his case for a second Cy Young. He's been dominant at home, so you have to like his chances. Player to watch Brian Giles has a long history of success in St. Louis, and the new ballpark seems to appeal to him as much as the old one after he cracked a pair of doubles Monday night in his first look at the new Busch Stadium. :icon_banana: GO PADRES!!!:icon_banana:
Sorry, ghostie sweetie. Even when spot-starter Mike Thompson faltered, the team picked him up. Padres are rolling and the train aint stoppin'. Even when Edmonds hit that 3-run bomb, I knew the Padres would find a way to win. Padres all the way, baby!
our pitching just sucks, and our closer is hurt. but we will probably still make the playoffs, then get shelled in them.
if not for Padres pitching the Padres would be lucky to be above .500 right now, nevermind in 1st place.
The Pads, down 5-2 in the toppa the 7th, get 4 runs, and take a 6-5 lead gointa the bottom of the 7th!! Cla Meredith onta pitch for the Pads!! Go Pads!! :icon_banana:
